How many more chances do we need to get it right?

Recommended Posts

Clean up day is usually towards the end of July or very beginning of August, usually just before the start of pre season.

I think we may know the full line up for our pre season fixtures by this thursday,if not we should at least know the dates so we can work on when the clean up day will happen.

Things that will probably need doing are:-

General Clean up of all the litter etc

Touch up of certain areas,ie painting

Fixing the clubhouse toilets

Maybe sorting out any new or existing food outlets

possible club shop repairs/improvements

washing down the decking, making the area more presentable

mowing grass

possible brickwork to some loose steps

tidying of turnstyle areas

cutting any overhanging bushes around the stadium

as you can see from the above list there is plenty to be done and i am sure colin and the staff have more to do/say on this and the above.

I would expect no less than 40/50 fans down for this clean up day,a substantial number more than we have had in previous years, but one morning/days work per year isn't too much to ask is it?????

An interesting thread.

If communication is our only problem then we are in a healthy state.

One problem i have is that most people around the club are volunteers.

To expect them to step up without offering support seems abit unfair.

Don't know where you get 'tit for tat' from - certainly none intended.

I am just saying that the Club have been frustrated with the levels of help in the past and stating a fact that the Club want/need more help on matchdays (they have recently said that this is their no.1 priority from us as fans for next season) - this particularly includes regular help with stewarding, cleaning and litter

I also agree that perticipating isn't just standing on the running track with a broom (I didn't say that) - as you probably know the people that currently help out the club do so in a variety of ways including fundraising, social events, SA membership, matchday support, publicity, away travel etc. Help is needed across this range of activities and a number of specifics have been agreed with the Club and will be discussed at the AGM.

My point remains. To continue to move forward in a higher division we need more people to help. Many hands make lighter work.

Its not that I don't like ideas and constructive criticism - I welcome them - I just want people (even every now and again) to put forward their idea and also suggest how they could get involved to make it happen. Indeed your own example of getting involved and moving the online publicity forward is exactly the sort of thing I mean.

I look forward to sharing a broom with you (although sweeper was never my best position)

Good stuff ..

As I said, all we can do as supporters is partner with the club to work out what the best way forward is. If the club's number 1 priority is to source additional matchday help then that's what we have to focus on but I'd still maintain a lot of the backgroundy, behind the scenes stuff still needs to happen because having some of this in place will allow the club to reach out to more people and hopefully secure that much needed help. Since the uptake via this forum isn't great, perhaps we should be putting something out on our other media channels .. either now or once the date for CDay (Clean-Up Day) has been announced.

Don't worry - increasing publicity/communication via Facebook/Twitter and other media are also on the list of actions

Since we started the twitter revolution,I can already sense the change in peoples perception of the club, many people ask about fixtures etc but we do need more local people to get the message out to and this can only really come from OUR fans retweeting stuff and tweeting stuff to their friends/aquatences,sadly,without meaning to have a go at people, our fans seem on the whole not to be doing this
