Proposed Constitution 12-13

Recommended Posts

The following has gone out to Club Secretaries and other officers this evening:

With all outstanding issues finally decided by the Football Association, I can now advise next year’s constitution, as proposed by the Board.

Two new clubs will be joining us, namely AFC Croydon Athletic (new club) and Epsom Athletic (promoted as champions of the Surrey Elite League). Both have been formally directed to us by the FA and thus will not face a vote at the AGM. Both will play in Division One.

We had expected Whyteleafe FC to come to us as a direct replacement for Guildford City. However, they asked the FA to be directed to the Kent League instead, and have been granted that wish. The effect of that is that Chessington & Hook United will now be reprieved and will take their place in the Premier Division next season.

Promotion and relegation between the Premier Division and Division One is, therefore, as follows:

Promoted from Division One: Guernsey FC, Bedfont Sports FC and Hartley Wintney FC

Relegated from the Premier Division: Banstead Athletic FC and Mole Valley SCR FC

Bookham FC have resigned from the League in order to join the Surrey Premier League.

The Reserve Section is provisional, pending the full return of next season’s affiliation forms and is subject to alteration up or down, at any time prior to the AGM.

Taking all the above into account below is the likely constitution for next season, barring any further surprises from the FA or anyone else:

Looks good - hopefully more teams will join Division 1 next season as it looks a little light in comparison with some other Step 6 leagues who have 20+ teams competing in them.

well southall were told no desicion would be made on them joining division 1 till the end of June, and then maybe they wouldn't be accepted. So they only have themselves to blame if it's light.

i think div one is a little low an not many stand out teams apart from wars , eversley an lammas think alot of quality has been promoted an rightly so could be a surprise winner this coming season

The other two clubs who made applications were Dorking Wanderers and Southall. Dorking Wanderers have not been allowed to transfer from the Sussex County League whilst Southall have been directed into the Spartan S Midlands League. Although I eventually became aware of it, the Club did not actually tell us that they had made a "double" application.

Disappointed the rules allow relegated sides to be reprieved. As much as we get annoyed with Step 4 being repreieved it is the same with this.

Hey ho. another long season awaits. Next Up FA Draws :)

So it would be better to run the Premier Division with 21 clubs?

That's a bit harsh considering that 3 clubs have been promoted from Division 1.

I look forward to receiving a personal hand written letter from Chessington & Hook thanking me for saving their voluminous buttocks from relegation and missing out on an all expenses paid trip to the Channel Islands.

Totally agree, we all know the rules at the start; finish in the bottom three then your relegated! Too many clubs, throughout various leagues, given a reprieve this season!!!
