Recommended Posts

Does you club charge for pre-season games ? and do they do a programes for pre-season games ?

Hanwell Town dont charge anythink for their home pre-season games bananatux.gif but they dont do a programe for any of their home pre-season games 404.gif

Im sure this is the same for most clubs at step 5 or below.

I'm sure at Tring we've charged a token amount in previous seasons say £2 or £3 but oppositions have generally been Step 3 or 4. It helps cover some of the overheads in hosting the game but unlikely to put many people off. I think the only time we've produced a programme had been when playing Watford. From memory we charged £5 admission for Watford which was mainly a young / development squad.

Yeah i think if we played a League, Conference or Conference South team then we would charge a entrance fee but i cant see us playing anyone in a pre-season game above step 4.

Savagebee - I expect AFC Dunstable and Aylesbury United will milk their pre-season games with a Luton Town XI and a QPR XI respectively for all it's worth

Savagebee - Yes but Club's in that position can come across as being greedy if they're not careful, that's all I'm saying, money isn't the be all and end all is it

So what do you think they should do? Clubs at this level need to find ways to raise money and the fans get a good game to watch. No one is holding a gun to anyone's head to go are they? If you were a club secretary what would be your plan of action?

The problem is that friendlies cost the same has a league game, referees and AssRef fees, kit to be washed and food to be laid on for the teams. Also reserve and U18 teams run at a loss all season. So we charge an entrance fee although I do not know how much.

Winslow Boy - You make a fair point but lets wait and see what AFC Dunstable and Aylesbury United charge when Luton Town and QPR come calling next month, there's no need for any Club to go overboard for a pre-season friendly is there so anything over a fiver and I think eyebrows will be raised

Perhaps we are all adding to our understanding why Cliff is no longer involved with club secretarial duties.

NeutralFan - You mean St Margaretsbury as I'm never sure what Club you are with half the time, I don't think I have any enemies at Station Road so I suppose I could apply
