time stands still for no man,not on twitter

We are in danger of being left behind with regards to twitter.

Andy Dickinson has kindly offered to do the twitter account for us but we need the person who owns @AFCHornchurch to come forward and pass it on to us or let us know if we can't have it so we can sort out an alternative,as far as I am aware, this has not been resolved and I believe is seriously hampering the club with regards to this outlet of communication.

An example of this is Caroline barker of the non league show, she pretty much re tweets everything sent to her regarding non league football, probably retweeting hundreds of messages per day.I checked what she had retweeted around the time of the play off final and there was 1,yes 1 retweet from a fckng romford fan simply telling her the score. This simply isn't good enough for a club entering the 6th tier of english football.I know that Andy will do the club proud when he gets the tools to work with but until then the club is being hampered by whoever owns that account, albeit I am prepared to accept unwillingly not knowing. When a team called hopflower are trending more than us and a romford fan is tweeting for us,you know you have problems. If anyone wants to follow caroline or tweets stuff to go out should we get any info in the meantime then her tag is @nonleagueshow

Whilst we can create a new account .. this is what we did when we set up @AFCHornchurchLv (the account we use for the live match updates) when I first asked about @AFCHornchurch in March .. it's not the right thing to do.

@AFCHornchurch has over 1000 followers, the majority of which will have followed because they want to follow so to start from scratch building up another account .. it just will not be as effective as @AFCHornchurch and will take months to get to that follower level and grow the awareness we need.

You've also got to remember when folk search for Hornchurch football club they'll search for "Hornchurch" not Urchins so the @AFCHornchurch account is the natural and most obvious one to use.

You could drop the AFC then

Loses the football angle. Yes, we could change to HornchurchFC but point still remains we don't want to build a new account from scratch.

The account holder must be on here...r have you pm'd Ian? perhaps he knows

PM'd Ian twice, so has Rob I believe (and called etc) but no reply. According to the status of my direct msgs sent to Ian neither has even been read which does surprise me since Ian has posted on here since my msgs but it's perfectly feasible he just hasn't seen them ... but this is hugely frustrating.

Have just left a voicemail for Ian,it went straight onto voicemail so maybe he is out of the country at the moment.

Would it be worth using another account for the time being and then if we find out who owns the other one then switching and letting any followers know?

seems like the facebook page could do with some work as well. ours is linked in with our website so all the news stories go onto facebook as well. plus all followers get send a event invite to every match/club event.

We have a load of work to do in this area ... much of it however is on hold until we can gain ownership of the social media accounts for twitter and facebook.

Once we have these though we can get the facebook and twitter profiles linked.

I'm not sure what route we're taking with the website (build v new) but it would be great if can get the social media plug-ins installed, an eShop up and running, email subscriptions set up etc etc so we can promote the brand. Plus, it needs to be simple to manage .. so we update a news item in one place and it gets automatically published via the plug-ins to facebook, twitter etc.

Kimble has designed a new website i believe.

I am just wondering if we should start from scratch with regards to everything, including a forum.

I don't want to do this as i like it on here but i am becoming increasingly frustrated with lack of news on this twitter account and we need to move on this

The site will have cms for ease of use and an ecommerce section (at some point although not at first as time is tight my end)

will have social media functions too....should be live in July
