There's something to be said for football grounds with character. Anyone that has been to the Madejski (or Middlesbrough, Derby, Southampton etc as they're all the same) and had the chance to go to proper grounds like Hillsborough will understand.

 

Obviously our new ground (fingers still crossed) will be 'new' but it will have one absolute advantage over those mentioned and that's the fact it will be right in the middle of the town and the community it's serving.

Exactly Ian. I remember going to Andover and thinking great facilities, but it was so far out of town how could they prosper. In the end they went bust. Cirencester and Biggleswade are other examples. Small non league clubs especially, need to be near the communities they are serving.

Bootham Crescent will always hold a special place in my heart.

April 1992 as a 12 year old Burnley fan crushed into the away end, to witness the Clarets win the old Division 4 Championship.

 

Really pleased they are once again a football league side.
