Langford FC 2012/13

Recommended Posts

Langford are cgoing to be a real force next season in South Mids Division 1. I have heard Wes Byrne is looking at signing the following players from the successful Baldock Town and Letchworth GC sides in a bid to win promotion back into the Premier:

Scott Rennie - Ex-Stotfold, Langford, Baldock

Louis Taylor - Ex-Stotfold, Baldock

Ross Haskins - Ex-Stotfold, Baldock

Kane Dougherty - Ex-Stotfold, Langford, Baldock

Ryan Aldrin - Ex-Stotfold, Baldock

Anthony Bowskill - Ex-Stotfold, Baldock

Jack Gregson - Ex-Stotfold, Langford, Baldock, Letchworth

Harry Holland - Ex- Baldock, Letchworth

These guys are a group of players with far more ability than the leagues they currently play in. I know the Baldock players joined the club as part of a long-term project that would see them rise up the leagues under the guidance of UCL veteran Scott Grant.

They walked the league title, but unfortunately I have been told that the FA have moved the goalposts in terms of what would be required for their home ground, stating the cage that surrounds half of their pitch as unsuitable and shortly after not allowing a groundshare that the club had arranged with Hitchin Town FC.

Taylor, Dougherty and Aldrin scored 70 goals between them las term, despite the latter pairing missing much of the season through injury and suspension, and have the ability to give any non-league defence a hard time. Match that with the good group of young players already at the club, and it could be a really promising time for The Reds.

Good luck, Langford is a great place to visit

Is Garrett staying?

What has happened to Adam Wombwell, Langford could do a lot worse than get him back into the fold for next season which would guarantee promotion back to the Premier Division where the friendly Club belong

Hahahahahahahahah honestly Cliffy you pick up on one name & laud them up without ever seeing them play. I don't think Adam is playing at the mo. Decent player & decent lad, but is far from being seen as a messiah for Langford. Always had fitness issues really & never fulfilled his promise.

Steve – Here’s the great man in action from The Cold End’s Blog, granted Adam had a weight problem as he could always be found in a McDonalds but majestic centre halves don’t need to run around like headless chickens for ninety minutes do they such as Ron Yeats, Mike England Larry Lloyd and Tony Adams for example:

Always enjoyed playing and managing teams away at Langford, a nice friendly club as pointed out....however, a sour taste was left for me on my second visit there this season with the Wodson Park reserves team...one of their young lads decided to plant a right hander on me which resulted in him getting sent off and me sporting a black eye...he then called his "heavies" in who in turn wanted to fight a few of our other players in the car park!

The chairman in fairness was apologetic afterwards and said he would deal with the imbercile....sad for a nice club (with great aftermatch refreshments!) to be tarnished like this.

Rhodes... I am being deadly serious when I say this.

I like Adam, but he is the worst player I have seen at Langford. During his short spell there a couple of seasons back he was like a fish out of water, and barely lasted 5 games before being shipped out.

Possibly because he has seen the lad play in real life, other than once in grainy (sorry Cold End) video...so, when and where have you seen him play to base your new found reverence?

The Cold End - It can get very cold at Forde Park can't it probably because it is off the beaten track and exposed to the elements out in the sticks, is it my imagination or are there some SSML grounds a lot colder than others even in August

Shadow - If you study that photo of Adam Wombwell on The Cold End's Blog it is poetry in motion and the elegance of the man reminds me a bit of a Ronald Koeman, Daniel Passarella, Franz 'der kaiser' Beckenbauer and even Bobby Moore so, as I said, how you can say he is the worst player you have seen at Forde Park is just ridiculous

Hahahahahahahahaha best post ever.

Seriously Rhodes you can't expect a bite when you're being that obvious, you really are losing your touch I think. Its like a watching a great on the way down in his career. It reminds of Mike Tyson, George Best, Paul Gascoigne it's sad to watch it disintegrate so obviously and publicly.

Taylor is excellent, Aldrin is a real handful on his day but suffers from sciatica and hamstring problems

Rennie, Haskins, Dougherty, Bowskill and Gregson were all Reserve players.

Holland is a good young player but hasnt played at any decent level. Tried Hitchin but didnt make it.

If these lads go to Langford they will strengthen them for sure but its all very well scoring goals for fun at Step 7.

The reserve players at Stotfold couldnt break into the team regularly although Rennie and Dougherty could have if they tried to get themselves properly fit.

From what i hear Langford are just one of several options an that includes staying with Scott Grant who has done a great job as Manager at Baldock.

Rhodes... please don't compare Wombwell with Beckenbaur and Koeman. Maybe he used to be a good player, but he certainly wasn't up to scratch during his time at Langford and that isn't an argument as he was shipped out within a matter of weeks.

With all due respect Patemondo, all of the players mentioned played first team football for Stotfold (perhaps bar Haskins) and the majority would be in Stotfold's first team squad now. In fact I am aware of your 'management' actively pursuing them.

Shadow, I would say that's a fair assessment. When you described him as the worst player i thought was a bit harsh.

He was a good player for us at Step 7, but certainly wasn't our best defender. I was shocked when he left us for Langford because I didn't think he had the pace or fitness to play at step 5.
