The reserves are hosting Broadstairs in a friendly at Hartsdown Park. Manager Kevin Barham said he hopes to use the game to trial a number of potential signings for the up and coming season. Come along and support the youngsters (who after a disjointed start to the season, managed to hold their status in Kent league 1) in this the last game of their season.

If this game is anything like the last one in which the 2 teams met, it will be an all action thriller.

See you there.

Last game of the season-or first game of the new season BB. ?

will have had 3 weks off by then-what more do they want ?

what would happen if KB could persuade them to do one nights training starting 1st June ?

Just a reminder about this game that we are having today. We will be trying out a few new lads as well as some of the lads from this season against a decent Broadstairs team, so why not come and have a look before the afternoon and evening games on the T.V.

Hope it went well

One in five million chance -but you never know-today may just be the day that a 16 year old turns up with his boots-and turns out to be the next Ronaldo.

There must be a few talented young east europeans and other minority nationalities floating around the area.

I wonder if anything is done to encourage these guys to come along

Yes it did go well, We won 2-1 against a good Broadstairs team. What was more positive, was that we had 2 players aged 16 and 5 players aged 17 that played and looked very comfortable and not out of place at all. Having this, with a few experienced players in the squad to help the youngsters ,hopefully we can get the right balance of getting some good results as well as maybe progressing some young players through the ranks

Again I watched a thoroughly entertaining game. I think it was the late David Coleman who said that "Football was a game of two halves", this game was a "game of many permutations" as with most trial games. We started of with a older team who dominated the game from the back, ()I hope this is the defence we can start with next season) before bringing on a mixture of youngsters.

Margate, attacking the Hartsdown road end immediately put pressure on the Broadstairs defence, a goal mouth scramble saw the ball land at Kane Hemmings feet, Kane side footed the ball in by the stand side post to make it 1-0. A talented and experienced Broadstairs side kept their heads and we had a game on.

Margate manager Kevin Barham changed things around after 20 minutes or so, introducing a younger element into the action. If memory serves me well he (Kevin) said after the game he had used 9 of next seasons U18's. The lads continued to acquit themselves well and showed that they will be no push overs next season.

2nd half started well though James Gregory showed his experience for Broadstairs. "Gregs" looked to be thoroughly enjoying himself with runs from midfield, through the centre. On one such run James started the move in the Broadstairs half, passed, received it back before producing a mazy run deep into the Gate area from where he took his shot well to score a equalizer.1-1.

Margate lost keeper Josh Mattlass (pardon spelling) to a hand injury, not for the 1st time this season Kane Hemmings was called on to play in the goal keeping position. Things livened up with chances at both ends, Kane H, playing his part well to foil a few Broadstairs chances.

With the next to last kick of the game Margate where awarded a penalty and, with the last kick scored to make it 2-1.

Roll on the last week in June when the lads return to training. Can't wait for next season to begin.

All the Best to Broadstairs as they look to move up the non league pyramid.

Just a note to thank Referee Jack Packman and his two assistants for their efforts.
