You say young manager smudge but will he be able to bring in enough players to play at CCLD1 level must have good connections if a young man does get the job surly.

I think you are right BAWA, connections are essential but at the same time you have to have a club that is attractive to the players, which will be the case here. Pre season trials will also attract a good interest for any manager to choose players from.

Beginning to see something in the water here, it looks like Lee Farmie & Whyteleafe vs Smudgeyboy, Croydon and AFC Croydon Athletic. Looking good Farms go for it and liven up this site ...... :D !!!

The club already has an identity, AFC at the beginning will not change that as it hasn't with many reformed clubs.

Just my opinion anyway :)

Smudgeyboy, will AFC Crotydon Athletic have their own clubhouse elsewhere and just groundshare Croydon FC ? Or will they utilise the Croydon FC clubhouse for their meetings, do's etc., ? Take it there will now be 2 signs up for exch club at the Arena entrance like Godalming/Badshot Lea ?

Basically, is the 'Arena' AFC Croydon Athletic HOME club and ground ?

Also where will AFC Croydon Athletic train ?

Obviously they cannot use the original Croydon Athletic clubhouse..........or are/can they ? ....I very much doubt it.

Although I am (thank the Lord) not "Smudgeyboy", I think the view is that eventually the current owners of Croydon Athletic - the evil Majeed clan - will lose their grip on the Crem lease. Croydon Council have always been in cahoots with CAFC and I suspect they will bend over backwards for the AFC incarnation and probably writing off a shed load of rent insodoing.

In the meantime, they'll just have to shack up with the tramps and exchange stories of their respective apocolyptic boom/bust histories over flat lager in the Arena clubhouse.

Farmie, did not have you down as a Religious Man,but Thank the Lord you are not me.Anyone who knows me or has met me nows I am not vindictive in anyway. But harking on about what has happened in the past, serves no purpose to anyone. And certainly putting Clubs down for their facilities,Shows the hatred you have for them, but the funny thing is if Croydon Athletic had not folded, maybe Whyteleafe F.C.would not of been RELEGATED.I have said for a long time as you well know that Croydon Athletic would never survive, with the money they were splashing out on mercenaries, and it was doomed. However Whyteleafe fell into the same trap for the last 13 games of the Season, when one of the journeymen joined the Leafe, who had previously played in Croydon Athletics GLORY DAYS,not for the love of the Club alone surely. Then was by a miracle selected PLAYER OF THE YEAR how ludicrous was that. Will he be there next year,on past record I doubt it.

What a load of old rambling nonsense as usual.

Surely it's absolutely vital that one learns from history. It's the idiots who fail to do so who end up in a mess. And you seem to be attracted to such messes - like a bluebottle.

Yes, in retrospect we wasted money over the last 13 matches (or whatever it was) but no one expected Burgess Hill to beat Dulwich on the last day. Maybe it's a lesson learnt but I it was worth going for.

You've had it in for Selley from day one. Did you ever apologise to him for saying he was no where to be in seen in our bar while you were partying it up with the coked up Lingfield boys? He was there all the time sitting quietly having a soft drink before driving back down to the New Forest to be with his family. He'd driven up from there in the morning to play the match. You can guarantee that it cost him more in petrol to be at the game than we gave him to play in it. And you call him a mercenary

He deserved his PoY award for his exemplary attitude: turning up first to every game, training well, being a leader on the pitch and having a better scoring rate than anyone in the team. But to you he's just a mercenary. And you're not vindictive.

N.G. they will play at the Arena and use Croydon F.C.'s Clubhouse.Think the last of their tasks going forward will be a sign.Majeed and his cohorts took everything from the old Club,Kit,Balls,in fact everything,it is now just a shell.

Farmie suggest you check out your facts, about this dedicated player and clubman.Beat Burgess Hill on Saturday,Played 90 minutes, played in a Charity game on Sunday played 90 mins, then played on Monday against Merstham played 90 minutes at 37 years of age it cannot be done.Yes I did talk to him about my comments on the Leafe messageboard, and apologised ask him?So now like everybody who does not like my views, your true colours will out.Think your comments about the Lingfield Players is a disgrace, could your views not be taken as sour grapes,as those said Players were all ex Whyteleafe Players. So suggest next time you meet them you say it to their faces. At least they spent their money, unlike many supporters at the Leafe, who never step foot in the bar.

As for me being a Bluebottle.

When I was a regular at Croydon Athletic, they were self sufficient, and had a great Youth Section, many of those Players have gone on to better things,so hardly a mess.Yes I helped out where I could!!!!

When I was a regular at Croydon F.C. they were in the Kent League, had a good run in the Vase and had a vibrant website, they are still at the same level now.so hardly a mess.Yes I helped out where I could!!!!

When I was a regular at Whyteleafe F.C. they were in the Ryman League, alas they got Relegated.Yes I helped out where I could!!!!A real mess ,so I TAKE FULL BLAME FOR THIS, BEING A BLUEBOTTLE.Bluebottles TURN INTO FLIES,SO CHEERIO.

I don't know what all this chat is actually about, but as a side, why can't the above be done in your eyes?

What, playing in a charity game? Most good players won't even get out of a jog in those sort of games, so hardly detrimental to a player, especially if they have good fitness levels anyway.
