Honestly mate, I've never heard such a blatant copy of one of your own songs. REM fk me off big-time, cos everyone rates them so highly, but in fact they're just as bland as Coldplay or David Gray.

To be honest, I've never been a fan of them. I liked Losing My Religion and Shiny Happy People, went out and bought the album, and then realised they were in exactly the same category as Del Amitri, Runrig and Simple Minds.

 

Michael Stipe should've been born Scottish.

Aapparently, the new REM single was recorded as a debut around the same time as '...End of the World', hence the similar sound.

REM, pretty overrated really. Have done some good songs but don't deserve the hype that they are currently getting.

I think there is a little bit of harshness going on here ,REM have made some very good stuff, they've stood the test of time. I think 'Automatic For The People' is something everyone should own and after seeing them live this year they've certainly gone up in my estimation.

 

Mark Graham I haven't seen for Chesh, though I think he may have played for Aldershot too. Richard Graham did play for us (his brother), blew hot and cold, could be great one week pap the next.

I own Automatic For The People, but Try Not To Breathe and Sidewinder Sleeps aside, I do not like it at all. And Everybody Hurts is just pap. Haven't seen them live, so will take your word on that one.

 

They've had some good singles, and the Greatest Hits coming out in a couple of weeks will probably be worth buying, but on the whole, I do find them a bit dull, and a bit same-y.
