Pre season

Someone had to start the convo :)

Have the club started organising yet? Is there any chance of Sycob letting us have a home friendly assuming we are staying there ?

If we can is there any chance of a high profile club to generate some income for both us and Sycob? Even when we were at Windsor I remember us playing aldershot and out o it we got Alex haddow.

If possible must be explored IMO.

What do you guys reckon?

Not being funny but league clubs have zero incentive to play us. Most league clubs will look to play away friendlies so to rest their pitch but we're currently too low down the pyramid and we play on a cabbage patch that no league club would risk their players on.

Wasn't it only a couple of years ago that we tried for a friendly with Maidenhead, only for them to tell us that they considered us too low down the pyramid to be worth their time?

Can't remember who I got that from, but definitely heard something along those lines.

What happened to the QPR/Mo Shariff friendly?

We had Graham Westley's Stevenage once. What about Preston NE? Now that Maidenhead are relegated, perhaps we're not so far apart?

What about a game against Woking, now that Thommo is assistant there?

We need to be playing on a better pitch before we can attract a club of a decent size. We stand no chance being at SYCOB. The second most important thing this summer, behind progress on our new ground, is to move away from Holloways Park IMO - I'd love to go back to Windsor, and not just because it's a 10 minute walk from home for me!

I think the QPR/Mo friendly is an urban legend. He was not contracted to the club and was effectively a free agent. There was no agreement between STFC and QPR and whilst maybe they are morally obliged there is nothing we can hold them to

I'm pretty certain it was a quote in a local rag from, I think, Steve Bateman, saying because MO was not on a contract and as such QPR got him for nothing they said they would, in compensation, be willing to send a strong team to us for a pre-season friendly.

Definetly up for the Chris Sliski Cup each season. What about kicking it off with a game against Windsor?

Great idea BR!

I would hope the wheels are already in motion.

I do not think it's the right thing to do , A pre-season game were 25 people turn up isn't the way to go. I'd say something more, something where it's seen every game.

epicrebel,

I'm pretty sure if we did have a pre-season memorial game for Chris against a team like Windsor there would be a far bigger attendance than 25!

Also, I'm sure BR didn't just mean only have a memorial game. As most people have mentioned previously we should and must have an everlasting tribute to Chris, something like 'the Chris Sliski stand' at our new ground.
