Recommended Posts

Badshot Lea defend the trophy tonight at Aldershot Town FC v Ashford Town (Middx) 7.30pm KO. Would be good to see some CCL support.

Badshot Lea 1 v 3 Ashford Town (Middx)

A good competitive final won in the end by Ashford Town (Middx) but Badshot Lea more than played their part.

Ashford Town (Middx) took the lead in the 15th minute only for Darren Blake to convert a 30th minute penalty. 1-1 half time.

The second half was end to end. With Ashford Town (Middx)breaking quickly.Badshot Lea had 3 good chances to take the lead but a mixture of poor finishing and good goalkeeping from the experienced Burgess kept them out. Two breakaway goals including one that looked like it was a right wing cross that went straight in was enough to seal the win.

Thanks Middleman. It is a trophy we always seem to do well in, that's 5 finals now in recent years although sadly only one victory.

I appreciate the comments as it is rare that BL get any positive remarks on here.We seem to be the Millwall of the CCL, but as the song goes " we don't care"

That's it for the season, just Presentation Night 18th May and club AGM, but at least all pre-season friendlies are booked.

Time to go and lie down and recharge the batteries and go again.

Now I have to totally disagree with the mention of Windsor.

Professionally run club and in fact Jim Melvin is somebody I personally know very well. In fact he was at the Final last night and I left him a ticket on the gate. He did make me laugh when he told me about the Windsor v Guildford fancy dress story. Oh how I wish I was there....

.....but thats it what I have been trying to express on this site !

This is what Guernsey's professionalism bring's to the league. I cannot for the life of me imagine them a professional outfit wearing fancy dress to the game and whilst warming up,..... champions or not,

I didn't see Guernsey in fancy dress on their last day when being crowned CCL Div. 1 champions !

A difference between professionalism and a glorified Sunday morning team......sorry but thats a fact !

As I mentioned before, alot of clubs could learn alot from Guernsey's outlook and their professional manner in the way they conduct themselves.

Professional they sure are, they have a Mascot in Roary the Lion who cavorts up and down the touchline, aping the Officials decisions, and acting the clown.Happens at all Professionaly run Clubs or does it NO..If it a lot of Clubs had GUERNSEY'S SPONSORSHIP MONEY,I am sure they could do things differently YES.But dId they have a Clubhouse NO,did Clubs and the League bend over backwards to accomodate their every wish YES.
