...but pound coins in your pocket don't hurt at all ....

Sounds like they made sure you had none left in your pocket to throw !

I know how much it hurts as I got hit by one a fair few years back.......

What a nail biting game. All credit to Colliers who made things difficult and played the right tactics to put men behind the ball and catch us on the counter. The big number 11 was a real handful up front and the number 9 is a skillful little player. If he lost a few pounds then I think he could be something special. Their central defence pairing also made things difficult.

GFC's undoing was their Arsenal-esque mindset to try and pass the ball through the centre when they should have been shooting when the opprtunity arose and should have got the ball more onto the wings. Just a few things to improve upon next season. As mad as it sounds at this level GFC have got to be more clinical in front of goal. I know we have a great goal tally this season but we have not taken advantage of our chances. We also need to be tougher in the tackle and stop backing off continuously when the opposition attack. We really need to get stuck in sooner and if it causes a foul then it's better closer to the half way line than around the box. It's also quite incredible how often we miss out on getting the second ball. I'm sure it's all to do with experience and it'll come good in time.

It may sound that I'm being critical but that is not the case at all. I am so proud of our lads this season. We went into the unknown and the whole club has conducted itself with such professionalism. The support has been immense and I am so pleased that I went over to support the lads. The atmosphere was electric and I hope the Colliers players enjoyed it.

Can't wait for next season. COYG's

Hopefully Colliers manage to stay up and I look forward to seeing you at Footes Lane next season.

Definitely 10 quid for those entering via the turnstile near the corner flag and the stand with (unfinished ?) roof. There was a pre-printed piece of A4 with the price on it. If it's gone to the club I don't really mind.

Huge game against Jersey tomorrow. JFA dead against following us into a UK league but it would be great if that changed. Would the CCL welcome another CI team I wonder ?

Why not !

To be honest GG, if they have the sponsorship backing, are as organsied and professional in their outlook as Guernsey are I would hope so. Guernsey are a clearly a success story and certainly a breath of fresh air, even more exciting moving up the leagues into the CCL Premier.

Without being disrespectul, alot of clubs could learnt a lot from Guernsey FC with their professionalism.

.

i totally agree with this though im no saint ive learnt alot watching them and the manner they conduct themselves from chairman to players is top notch!! in our home game against them i felt embarassed at one point and in awe of them!

What agree with Nice Guy ?....be careful mate, you have others on your back with verbal abuse ....... ;) !

Honesty Newbs, love it !

I believe many clubs could learn from Guernsey on how to be more professional to improve ones/club image and how to conduct themselves. Without being disresectful, from what I have experienced in the last few seasons watching CCL, there is a difference between profesionalism and glorified Sunday morning teams.

It can only be good for the game......... :D !

I would like to contratulate Colliers Wood United who played a superb game and could have snuck it. Thought the number 9, 7 and big bloke up front were classy. Has the no. 9 played at a higher level, as I thought he was top notch.

Also, fair play to the players who were gracious in defeat and we had a bit of banter with them.

Tribute also to the Rovers minis who had a great night and the SWU 'keeper for taking the banter well and for high-fiving all of the youngsters. Helped to make it a night they will never forget.

Clubs downfall this year has been to bend over backwards for Guernsey.Early Kick Offs, change of dates(guildford in their cup semi),they are your opponents for fook sake.Just remember they have unlimited resources, which if other Clubs at this level had they could be more Professional surely.Interestingly only 1 person has posted on my thread DRAWING OF LOTS,you obviously do not think that when you go to Guernsey does not matter. So when Windsor,Camberley,Egham,Wembley, are last to go,don't say Smudgey was right. All that is needed is a level playing field,to find out how good Guernsey are, unlike this year when 6 of their last 8 games were at home, that cannot be allowed to happen again,as it will show that you are all Turkeys again voting for Christmas.

But they never scored, the Men of the Match according to the Radio Commentary were Dan Burnett and the back four.

Works two ways, Guernsey have bent over backwards to assist our visitors. As for the Guildford game, that was the only date possible to play it! Pitch was already in use on the Saturday.

The club does NOT have unlimited resources, otherwise the season tickets would not be going up. The schedule of matches is done by the fixtures secretary who I am sure does the best he can.

What I was trying to say is that CWU had a game plan and it almost worked. They worked tirelessly and their tactics to stop Guernsey from playing worked well as we could not score in 90 minutes. At times not quite sure how we didn't score.

You have a lot to learn Son,Prices for admission go up,the higher you go up the pyramid, nothing unusual there. So with the Rugby Club also getting promoted again this Season, which will mean more games.Guernsey F.C. having 8 more League games to play next season than this, how if we have a bad winter will they finish the Season?Maybe ditch the Muratti game, would be a start, that does not take preference over League games?

I'm not complaining about the increase Dad. Already sent my cheque off to the club and asked for some additional tickets.

The Muratti is for me still the biggest game of the season. Nothing better than seeing a grown Jerseyman cry into his beer.

Thanks HKP.

"Big bloke up front" I assume is Mario Embalo who is 5ft 10in!

9 is Jimmy Davies, a very good footballer and 7 is Matthew Tanton aged just 17 (as is our no 3 Johan Bernal-Ortiz). Number 5, Harold Odametey is 18.

All the youngsters are improving all the time.

The Guernsey minis were good lads and reacted to my pointing of at our badge as I would have expected!

The stocky No. 9 Jimmy Davies is a quality player there is no doubt, but one has to question his temperament and attitude at times. If he could lose a couple of pounds in weight, curb the above, then let me tell you the boy definitely play at a higher level/standard. He has a sweet left foot, skilful with good vision. His workrate could be better if he was fitter, but the lad is always arguing with the referee so it would be interesting how many times he's been banned this season.

If only he would listen and learn........ :( !!!

Mind you, compared to me everyone is tall! Thought Jimmy was your best player, despite the extra weight he has to carry around. Nice guy too.
