It is my understanding that Ollie Burgess was on his stag do and that Jerome Anderson was injured.

You should think of what your team have achieved this season. 2nd place by a long way.

If it had not been for a team that was built for much higher pyramid football you would have won it.

Many people fully expect St Neots to get out of the premier division at the first attempt.

Keep the faith and manager and players, its a hard pill to swallow but the team should win this next season. Hopefully there will be no St Neots like side coming up or down.

My only observation on your team is they play the game in a one dimensional way and tactically that is quite easy to play against (Unless you are St Noets of course), You do not score enough goals because you play that way.

Good luck for next season, youve got no choice but to plan and get on with it.

But dont give the manager stick, he has done a great job.

Fair enough.

I think Jerome is suffering from shin splints which is very painful in younger players,so I'm informed .Would have liked to think with his electric pace and ability to beat a player,he would have been able to cope with those crucial last 10 minutes of extra time last night,if he had been on the bench but obviously Steve B knows best ?

We supporters don't always know the facts when we make our judgements on these matters,on this forum.Which I hope the management and players reasonably understand. We are all so vociferous in our support, views and opinions that we often forget that Slough are only a part-time lower non-league team, who's dedication is like any other worthwhile hobby.

It's creditable how far we've come under Steve Bateman but for those of us who were lucky enough to witness our Vauxhall Conference years,we know how far we need to go, to be a truly successful side as a semi-pro side and we're still miles from it.

3 Spirit as pointed out many times on this web site everyone it entitled to their opinion and Aaron is entitled to his.

Of course,Aaron Eales or any other person is entitled to air their views about Slough Town on this forum. My observation was that in Aaron's head, does he feel that 5mins late on against Northwood[i think] and several seat warming substitute appearances was justifiable in him signing.Wouldn't he have been better off playing regularly at a lower club.

It's my opinion,Aaron was used to balance the books and probably knew before he came that he wouldn't be playing that much and was probably sold on the idea of training with better footballers, than he was used to.

Has he learn't much from this experience or has it been a waste of time? Only Aaron Eales and Steve Bateman know this.

From my view,I haven't seen enough of Aaron to know if he has what it takes to be a competitive non-league player at our level but I can't help but feel that Steve Bateman has used him for his own ends and not been able or willing to try to progress him.

In truth, maybe he's not up to it but could easily play Hellenic level or such like.Just seems to me that we miss out on having 1 or 2 enthusiastic young battling tryers in the team for grouchy, think they're better than they are, senior players who don't always deserve such plaudits.

I know other fans will say that we haven't the time to mould young players especially when we a chasing the title and do not have a reserve team.To answer that, I just see that as a lack of foresight.

Some people are over reacting and I agree with Martin and Aaron Eales as I believe that the team and Steve Bateman have done great. 2 nd in the league by a good distance is a more than respectable season in whatever league you are in. I hope that Steve Bateman and the majority of the team stay ( some will leave and that is to be expected as most of them are well capable of playing at a higher level). The only change for next season should be to bring in a few new players and bring in a few of the under 18s.

But second in this system is NOWHERE, dont like to remind you all that I said weeks back that the team as a whole did NOT SEEM TO HAVE THE DESIRE.to gain promotion.Lots of teams given last nights opportunity would have played their hearts out and gone for it.When we scored that should have been IT ! Then we go and give them another chance. which THEY TOOK !

If we had beaten most of those lower sides that got a result against us during the season, we would have been champions by a country mile.So that is the real problem for me.

Second in the league is a good season. Only one up is the problem.

Windsor Rebel,I hate the play off system. You are right finishing 2nd is a good season but we fell short of 1st place by our own team/management inadequacies. That is why it is so gauling, not getting promotion this season.

I know we both have different viewpoints,as to the root of our problems but on the whole we both agree that this season has had some merit and been an enjoyable ride.

Can't wait for the next campaign to start! I enjoy pre-season and seeing what new players arrive.......ever onward...and hopefully, upward !

I believe the players do have the desire and IMO to state anything different is doing the existing squad a dis-service. Some teams finish the season strongly and some teams lose form, it's called football and even happens to premiership teams let alone part-time teams.

Hotspur, all teams whether top or bottom can reflect on the season and say if they hadn't of dropped silly points here and there that things would have been different.

If St Neots hadn't of dropped points to AFC Hayes, Bedfont, North Greenford etc etc etc.

I want Steve Bateman to stay and think he will take us up.

Alright last night was bad and the last few games of the season not great either, and we can all theorise and offer our different opinions why. We've still progressed to having had our best season since he came here and he is able to attract the right calibre of player. I would hope he stays and if so expect he will chop some of the squad and bring in some fresh faces and make us stronger again next season.

Steve Bateman can do it and so can the Rebels.

We are lucky to have a manager of Steve Bateman's quality, he will take us up next season.

Didn't that get said, the season last and the season before. and before that!

If Steve Bateman had been given a 5-year contract when he first joined the club, then he would have 1 and a half years left to prove to us and himself that he CAN get Slough promoted, with a team made and ultimately overseen by him.

Perhaps that is as how long we should give him? That is longer that most get.

As I have stated before, the new gorund is the priority, not promotion, that is nice but secondary.

Irrelevant. Both are separate issues.

Not irrelevant at all,as when the new ground comes on-line it will generate more revenue streams to

finance team building, giving us more income to spend on the playing budget, hence a

better chance of promotion.

....but we were talking about Steve Bateman !

Every Slough fan wants a new stadium/ground and of course, that will give us stability and financial benefits.

However, what has this to do with our current situation,in regards to our current manager/staff/players and the budget we have spent out this season?

Who is to responsible for our failings this season?

Probably not enough older fans around who new the Sunday league sides of "White Horse" and Oxley press, or they would tell you that either of those teams would slaughter the present Slough team.Oxley's mainly made up of Slough reseves.Peter Frost -Joey Howarth are 2 who come to mind.True White Horse ( named after pub in Cippenham ) had a more electic team, ocassionaly using the Reardon brothers,Delaney,Roger Connell etc etc.My point being every game they seemed to have the DESIRE to win.

How much more budget do we need to get promoted, we already have a decent playing budget. It's fairly obvious if we had a huge weekly budget we should be able to get promotion. There are a lot of managers that would be fairly confident of winning promotion on the budget we already have compared to others teams in this league. Edited by HP9
