Cameron comes under fire!

Recommended Posts

As someone who 'knows a bit about fire-arms', I find it impossible to believe HMG ever ordered Sig Sauer hand guns in the first place.

Glock pistols are superb, possibly the best in the world for their size, weight and fire-power capacity.  Many English police forces use them as their side-arms.

I know what you mean JR, they must be bloooody imbeciles but it is true, millions more wasted:-

I saw an interview with a serving officer who said in so many words that now the army is quitting Afghanistan the soldiers out there are finally equipped to deploy there! You couldn't make it up cudya?

IMO the world would be a far better place if guns of any description didn't exist.

Yes, that's lovely Alan, makes me feel all warm like I want to cuddle you but the point is that we currently have a budget that all sorts of public services have to stay within but these absolutely cretinous morons wasting good money on failed projects means that everyone else gets less, the public get less or our taxes go up to pay for these cokeups.

You mean the Afghanistan soldiers, well they are fully equipped to take over from us when we quit, our job is done!

No Rhodesly, I was obviously referring to a British Officer talking about British soldiers.

Forgive the question but are you really special or learning needs because you do come across as incredibly stupid?

You simply couldn't make this stuff up, I suppose if we weren't paying for their mistakes the Ministry of Defence sorry, Shame and their pencil pushing wasters would make an enjoyable Ealing Comedy. I can certainly see at least one person we know being played by Kenneth Williams!

And here we go again with news that following the sale of the famous Ark Royal carrier to the Turks to scrap for peanuts our favourite idiots then had to buy bits of her back to fix our only remaining carrier in service.

No wonder our old "Full Allies" the yanks think we're a joke!

Scandal of our scrapyard Navy: We sold Ark Royal to the Turkish for scrap... now we have to buy back bits of her to repair UK's last carrier
  • The Ministry of Defence was forced to buy parts to keep carrier in service
  •
  • HMS Illustrious has to be refitted with parts from HMS Ark Royal after a fire

  • HMS Ark Royal was sold two years ago and sent to a Turkish scrapyard

  • 3 months later...

The Ministry of Defence has been accused of a "lack of cost control" in its efforts to overhaul the management of Britain's barracks, training grounds and bases.

Industry insiders and leading politicians were shocked to discover that Deloitte, one of the UK's Big Four accountancy firms, was paid £14.8m in 2012-13 for advising the MoD on reforms to the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).

That is four times more than the MoD's second highest-paid consultant, EY, received for advice on another part of the MoD, Logistics Commodities and Services, which looks after everyday items such as food. The news emerges just days after the Public Accounts Committee found that the MoD was spending £400m a year on consultants owing to departmental skills shortages.

Loosely – What on earth are you talking about now, the article clearly states that these highly specialised consultants with niche skills are not available within the MoD largely due to skills shortages, you of all people should know full well that these companies independent input, such as Deloitte’s, is invaluable and you get what you pay for at the end of the day don’t you.

It's what the Independent is saying Rhodesly, not my own work unfortunately. Looks bad really. I mean, what do Deloitte know about running the country's defence for goodness sake?!

Well exactly, you said it, like I said firms such as Deloitte's, Capita, KPMG, PWC, Ernst & Young, and Freshfield Bruckhaus Deringer are worth their weight in gold to the MoD and save the department and tax payer billions

As the article says the MoD are massively overspending whilst no-one within the organisation has the skills but meanwhile the MoD are underspent on equipment for the boys and girls in the services. Sounds like the paperclip counters are having a field day of their own!

Loosely – Is it surprising that nobody in the MoD has the required skills as the pay is far higher in the private sector, that’s why we are forced to use these specialist companies who might charge a lot for their services but, like I said, are worth their weight in gold and save the department, as well as the tax payer, billions of pounds in the long run.

Rhodesly - Well yes that all sounds hunky dory doesn't it but even with the help of Deloitte and the likes even when the Mod manage to underspend it is in the wrong areas and they don't even know where it is underspent!

Let's look at this recent story in The Telegraph for the facts shall we? After sacking thousands of troops the MoD find they've underspent £1.2 Billion on equipment. The only problem is they don't know which equipment! Could it get any more farcical? Well yes, because their accounts are in such a mess they could very well have ordered something that won't get paid for after the government claw back that £1.2 Billion for other uses!

Wow, these consultants must be even worse that the civil servants who previously looked after this mess!

But troops aren't being sacked, what are you talking about, if you bothered to read the article it states that the Armed Forces are engaged in a ten year long restructuring programme called Future Force 2020 which will deliver a smaller but far more adaptable and efficient Military force, the cut backs and trimming are made up of largely voluntary retirement and natural wastage. It's certainly a good, well written, article but not entirely accurate.

Rhodesly - So Defence Chiefs aren't being forced to lay off thousands of troops? You mean our buddies the yanks still rely on us to back them up in the conflicts they seek?

Interesting that you avoided the matter of the £1.2 Billion underspend being unknown on what like the plague Rhodesly. Another subject you'd like to swerve. Why can't you just be honest and admit the MoD is just one huge disaster?

Loosely – Why are you just picking on the MoD and not any of the other Central Government Departments some of which are totally incompetent and spend taxpayers money like water, is it purely because I work there.

Rhodesy,if you spent as much time working,as you spend defending the undefendable on here, maybe this country would not be in the mess it is currently in.You are definitely M.P. material as you never answer a question straight, you are funny though.
