So to summarize quarter finals are

Portugal (Joseba) V Czech (Mummybunny)

Germany (Cookie) V Greece (Frankie)

Spain (Kev Barham) V France (Neeterpeter)

England ( Don Walker) V Italy (Stuart Walker)

Looser gets nothing...Winner is in the money!!!!!

What will you do with this new wealth? Holiday? Striker? Or just blow it on wine, women & wine?

I take it that you did not enjoy watching overpaid players from you other team then.

 

I always think International fees should be paid to a charity and in this case it should not be RNIB as they were the only ones who could not SEE how not to play with pride.

It was like watching Margate last night.

 

Ck and Hodgson (both of whom i have a lot of time and respect for) setting up their sides with hardly anyone in midfield.

Two wide players-young and the hard running milner(read bodkin and stubbs)-out wide but hardly ever get the ball because not enough possession in the first place.

 

Effectively England were playing with just 8 outfield players so hardly get any ball.

Parker and gerrard(read corneille and avery ) could'nt do it all-needed more players in the centre

 

You can have the best wide players in the world (or ryman league )and a good striker -rooney-but if your midfield does'nt get enough of the ball to give it to the wide players-its a complete waste of those wide positions

 

Why Hodgson did'nt bring numbers into central midfield-sacrifice young early on in favour of henderson to have 3 in the centre and get a bit of possession/win some ball is beyond me-

why CK does'nt have more than 1/2 central midfield players i similarly beyond me.

 

It does'nt work every time-and to be fair-due to Italy's profligacy in front of goal last night-england almost got away with it-but generally-get a bit of possession and you have half a chance.

 

England may haveactually strung 6/7 passes together-and got some time/control-and at ryman level-Margate may be able to string 2/3 passes together and similarly get a bit of time/ease pressure and get a modicum of control.

I don't want /expect pretty flowing football-but just have enough players around in the centre of the park to stop the ryman equivalent of pirlo and his cohoerts going forward unchallenged,and ease the pressure on the defence.

 

whatever level you play at-one wide player is a luxury/two is completely extravagant

I'm a simple person all I want is..

No passing backwards.

Attack the other team, no soaking up pressure and waiting for counter attack.

Greedy people shooting at goal from outside the box.

Players who can last 90 minutes.

Hodgson did a good job with a thin squad. The problem is not enough international-quality footballers are produced in this country.

 

Skillful players in england.................... international quality footballers in this country..... still trying to put those two lines into a sentence involving the team that played last nite.... nope impossible. :(....

What is incredible is that if we had 5 players who could put the ball in the net from the spot we would have been in the semis. That's how near this weak squad got!

In truth the Eyeties should have put us out of our misery before half time, cmon fellas surely no-one thinks we deserved to go thru... not on the last few performances.......................... :(
