Welcome to Whyteleafe (maybe)

Whyteleafe finished in the relegation position in R1S yesterday, so could be CCL bound.

Guessing there is a hope of a reprieve though, so maybe not. If they do come down, I can't see them competing with the likes of Windsor & Guernsey, so might be here for a while. At least we'll get Smudge back ;)

Bad day Saturday down at whyteleafe they done what they had to do which was win but it wasn't good enough in the end as burgess beat dulwich in last 5 mins. Smudge look disappointed when I see him there as with everybody else.

Wonder if we will get any whyteleafe fans join our forum now.

Smudge/The Gifted One is, without doubt, the worst dancer I have ever seen in our clubhouse. I come a close second.

As far as relegation is concerned I personally relish a new and different challenge. Looking at the CCL Premier division just gone, about half will be new grounds to me and I look forward top being reaquainted with some of the old ones: Windsor, Egham, Molesey, Wembley, Croydon and Dorking are all familiar old Isthmian grounds. I think Badshot Lee play at Godalming and E&E will be at Chipstead. I've been to Camberley, Ash and Horley but all the other will be new.

IF we do end up with some form of reprieve, then of course I'll be happy but won't be celebrating on the pitch with champagne as frankly we deserve to go down. However since a little earlier this year, the club is on a far sounder financial footing and we have a Chairman who will want to succeed in whichever league we end up in although not to the extent of trying to buy an instant return to the Ryman League.

It will all come down to points coefficient now.

Firstly, how many of the 14 step 5 leagues have a Champion club coming up? Most, but not all will do. Let's say ten.

Then assume a club or two higher up either fold or take a voluntary demotion, let's say another two.

So there are only eight clubs to relegate, and the first six to go will be the clubs that finished bottom. Whyteleafe didn't finish bottom as that spot was Croydon Athletic's.

So it may all come down to how many points each of the clubs who finished next to bottom got.

If I were Whyteleafe though I wouldn't want to come down, as it won't be easy to get back up.

On the Whyteleafe theme.....

I noticed on the Surrey Mirror web-site last week that the 'Leafe player that had been charged with burglary failed to turn up for court and that a warrant was issued for his arrest. (No Names - No Pack Drill !)

Do I take it he is no longer connected to the team ?

Delando Smith. I haven't seen him since a week or two before the news broke on that one.

I remember the day he first played for us, I had to meet him in Croydon and he followed me in his car to Purley where he parked up and got in with me before I drove to the away game (Hythe Town I think it was). This alleged burglary took place a week later and was very close to where he's parked his car that evening!

It surprised me as he seems a really nice and smart bloke (as footballers go!). I guess he just wanted a new laptop.

Problem is surely with Horsham,Tooting and Mitcham,Leatherhead, being relegated from the Ryman Premier. Then Herne Bay and Three Bridges being promoted from the Kent and Sussex Leagues. All fall within the Ryman South catchment area.

Looks like 12 of the 14 leagues have either Champions or runners-up have have passed the grade - the 2 leagues that may not be in a position to supply promotion candidates are both up north

With thanks to Peter Miller from the Non-League website for an excellent spreadsheet

Ian's contract with K's expires at the end of this season. He feels he's got another year playing in him. I'd like to see him stay as a player-coach but heaven only knows what will happen (with him or the other players mentioned above).

I spoke to one of our players on Saturday night about staying on and he didn't seem overly keen on playing the CCL (having played in it before).

Will they still have a decent budget will depend on how many players stay they were paying alot of money still to go down

Rearrange these words to form a sentence.

Making friends already I see Lee? :D

Would be good to go to Whyteleafe again, use to go there in the old Athenian league days. Saw them earlier this season against West Ham United and they are still a very friendly good club. A great local derby game for us much better than the long drives.
