Maidenhead Relegated!

Maidenhead have today been relegated to the Southern Premier League. If we get promoted that will be a very nice away day! We'll probably take more fans than them as they only average 200.

COYR! do us proud! 3rd time lucky!

They will probably get a reprieve. No team finishing 20th has ever been officially relegated from that league.

what do you mean reprieve? i thought last 3 get relegated automatically.

Adil, quite often team within non-league have problems which means they are demoted from their current level of football. This may be ground regulated (as happened to ourselves) or financial, but every year there are a number of clubs which are demoted. This is turn means the highest placed sides at that level of football are reprieved despite happening to finish in the relegation spots.

Saved our bacon in 2007/8 when Halifax experienced problems and had to reform their club due to financial problems. As we had the best points to game ratio side at step four, we were reprieved and avoided relegation.

Oh i see, explains why sometimes i see teams relegated but play in the same division the following season. Is non league football that much of a problem now?

random question but how are Slough coping financially? have we ever been in trouble in the last couple of years? I see players flying into our clubs pretty much throughout the season and we chase highly rated players, so do we have a bit of money in our league?

It’s called local rivalry Yosser, and it’s what makes football brilliant from Glasgow to Buenos Aires. You can always go and watch the rugby or cricket if you want more gentlemanly conduct between fans. See you tomorrow night, weather permitting of course. ;)
