RESULTS: SAT 28TH. (For What It's Worth....)

Recommended Posts

Egham Town 1 Farnham Town 1 - our season ends as it began, with a draw against Farnham. Dale Marvell scored our 400th CCL goal in the 2-2 draw on the first day and the 500th today. Then 4 minutes later a guy on his knees headed in the equaliser (James Pearson, for the record.) Farnham were unlucky to have a man sent off, I thought. Overall it was a fair result because we failed to make the most of our chances and Farnham worked hard.

What happened to Guildford - did they turn up? Not the proudest way to end a season, even if you are champions...

yeah and what have egham won in last two seasons sweet FA ,sour grapes i think and what was it you said in a earlier post an achievment that wont be widely lauded well who gives a flying feck what you think Edited by Cityfan

Disagree Flint I thought Camberley were thoroughly deserving of a draw if I am honest. We appeared to have a lot more chances then Windosr but the difference is the way O'Toole took his chances. I guess that is what you get when you pay for it :)

Good day with the little ones on the pitch and I just wish more people would appreciate it and come along when it is free !!!

Good to see Ed again and have a good chat with a windsor fan about the great big glob who played at number 5 who could thrown a ball miles and go down worse than Drogba.

Oh and for the record I though the 3 officials had a good game including a certain poster who wasnt deserving of grief from somone who should know better, !!

Why do we have to be so bloody vague about incidents like this?

If there's something to say, just come out and say it.

I'll say what I thought I saw / heard at HT - what appeared to be the assessor called over the linesman and murmured something in his ear that sounded like it was about the performance of the ref. They appeared to be buddies.

Now I might have read that wrongly but I was literally 1 yard away from them - as I was more concerned about getting a HT cuppa I didn't really earwig, but rather wish I had done now.

As for comments about Chris Ellis, Windsor's No. 5, I have not seen a harder player all season - strong, fast, committed and brave - a real tough and honest competitor. To suggest he goes down easily is ridiculous imo.

Both teams had chances, both 'keepers made some good saves, but if O'Toole had taken the penalty and made it 3-0 (as he should have done because sentiment should not play a part at 2-0) then Windsor would have been out of sight at HT.

Just had a £10 bet with someone that Guernsaey will be the Premier champoions next season. That person has gone for Windsor !!!

To be honest tempest ward I would have said he was lucky not to get a straight red, what did you think of this particular ref had him a few times this season just wanted to know what you thought?

Think this is the third time we have had this ref this season and on a whole he seems OK i would say he is about average for this division ive seen Worst lol

Egham 1 – 1 Farnham Town. A good point for us in our final game of the season against a good Egham side. They moved the ball quickly with some decent movement but we stuck to our task, worked hard and deserved a point in the end.

Slightly disappointed on two points;

1. Due to the weather we placed two t-shirts at the side of the pitch for our long throw specialist to use to dry the ball. An Egham representative firstly threw them over their wall and out of their ground and after they had been retrieved he then hid them in their turnstile!!! Not sure why? Egham could have used them if they wished! Embarrassing really!!!

2. I know that illegal approaches go on at this level however; to approach one of my players during the cool down for next season takes the p**s a bit!!! Is there still a fine system in place for approaches???

I agree with the pen Rother and if he had scored it may have ended up 6 !!! considering how well OTolle took his 2 goals and on a hat trick I was surprised he didnt take it !!! Had a good laugh with a couple of your blokes re your 5. When he went down under a challenge from our small 11 one of your fans correctly stated size did not matter if it was a foul it was a foul. Intersting though that after that incident it was your 5 that was booked :) the 2 guys next too me were complimetary about him and as they watched him week in week out I cannot argue.

Your view on the ht incident was interesting because that is not how I understand it from a number of people including people from both sides.

chill out a bit ;)

Rother, why so upset about the penalty miss? It would have been a great statistic, had Ryan Parsons scored, to be able to say every outfield player had scored a goal this season and was the final result that important when we knew we couldn't be caught in 2nd place anyway ? In the pro game players are told to go down if they're fouled and I don't know if Keith has instilled this in our players or if some of them watch too much football on the telly but Chris isn't the only one who does this and, ironically, it can work against you as Chenns should have had two clear free kicks on the edge of the box when clearly fouled but was honest and stayed on his feet !

As regards the ht 'incident' it sounds like you didn't hear the whole converstaion and it wasn't murmured but said quite loudly in front of a fairly packed stand which I felt was embarrassing and disrespectful, coming from an FA official - surely the FA's Respect campaign applies to its' own representatives as well as players and supporters ? If he had a point to make it should have been done in the privacy of the changing room not in front of 30 or 40 supporters from both sides thus embarrassing and causing distress to the person concerned.

Worcester Park Res 8-1 Sandhurst Town Res.

Oddly, the pitch looked better at the end of the game as it did at the beginning but that may be down to the cider somewhat!

Thoroughly deserved win for the home side who would have scored more but for some excellent keeping (nice fella with a good sense of humour).

Quite a few youngsters on show, a couple of which looked promising.

I am now a member of the Worcester Park club and I have adopted them as my "second" CCL club.

Well done to the ref for giving the game the go ahead and fair play to both sides for all the effort they put in.

Heard something interesting about the future of the reserve section of the CCL but cannot post until I know more as I think it it would be unfair on our league.

Windsor Sec, I'm not "so upset" about the penalty incident, I just have a different view on it I guess.

As Krooner says, 3-0 at HT, could have become 6-0 whereas the miss kept Camberley in the game.

We must be talking about different HT incidents because the conversation I witnessed was not loud and would not have been overheard by anyone in the stand.

Whatever - having any kind of conversation in public was completely out of order I agree and your complaint is fully justified, even if he was only inviting him for an after-match beer. (which he wasn't)

my take on a wet day at Footes Lane

Great pics MC.

I see that one of your 'men-in-black' is a regular feature at Meadowbank in the Premiership.

So regular, in fact, he almost has his personal name on one of the bar-stools.

(No Names - No Pack Drill !!)

Not sure if we are talking about the same man JR but one of the officials has his own bar stool at every ground in the CCL

They play top flight egg-chasing at Meadowbank, BJR? No wonder the pitch is in such a state!

Something to do with the weather, me-thinks.

Now't wrong with the the bar though, as recently confirmed by the beloved, (cough-cough) M.V.D.C.

Cheers Brandon !

My recollection of the game at Camberley was where 2 teams belied the weather and pitch conditions and provided an entertaining and pulsating game. Had Ryan Parsons put that pen away in the first half, I think we would have scored more but I full credit to Camberley for continuing to push on. Both keepers pulled off their fair share of good saves and whilst it was 2-1 the game was very much in the balance. Have to say that our third was beautifully taken.

There really are a good bunch of people down at Camberley and I would like to thank Kroons for the Under 11 tourney before the main event. At Windsor, we know and appreciate the value of getting the kids involved and it would be great to see more clubs involve their youngsters more often on match days.

Best choice of beer in the CCL as well what with 2 real ales on tap and a good selection of bottled ales.

Finally, I wish CTFC all the best in getting their plans for the future approved.

Did anyone make use of the Beer Tent at the Guernsey game on Saturday? £2 for a pint of Breda, not bad at all. Shame I cant drink lager. :(

Surprised to see 'only' 1100 at Guernsey on Saturday. Was it not the day the trophy was presented? Where did the other 1000 go?

I thought that the crowd of 1184 was pretty good all things considered. The weather was poor but the forecast was even worse, so that would have deterred a few people. I expect there will be a good Guernsey contingent at Fareham on Friday though, whatever the weather.

What's happening in Fareham Panthera? Something more important than the cup final at Farnborough?
