Woodford United 1st May Postponed

Recommended Posts

Why don't be just play the woodford game, play off semi and the final all on the bank holiday monday the day after a monster truck rally helps to flatten the pitch.

On behalf of the Southern Football League, thank you for solving the fixture problem

At the moment, it's confirmed for the Monday but that's dependant on us playing Woodford on Tuesday and being able to play SYCOB on Thursday. Assuming all that happens there's a small matter of having to beat SYCOB to get to the final.

There's a small matter of a semi-final first.

That's what I was thinking, surely would be a logical solution.

Interesting interview with Bateman in the Express. Apparently the chairman is looking into options with the league of either not playing the game tomorrow (comes with a £2000 fine) or even playing the Woodford game on Thursday. Not sure we could get away with such a short notice change in fixtures though. He also says we could end up with a shortage of players for the Woodford game because he wouldn't play any of our players who would be in his squad for the playoff game.

I cannot believe the league have no contingency plans in place for the play-offs in the event of bad weather.

Meaningless games have been scrapped before in emergencies so why not now?

The league priority should be to make sure the play-offs are as fair as possible for all teams, so why make us play Tuesday, Thursday and Monday or even worse Thursday, Saturday and Monday if tomorrow night is cancelled?

It really is incompetency beyond belief.

I like my solution the best - simply cancel the play-offs and let the highest placed team in them go up. No games have to be re-arranged, and nobody has to play 3 times in 6 days!

Being entirely selfish, could do with Thursday bring put back as I am not around :)

Gary, where does that leave the situation regarding the camera? I probably won't be at Woodford on Tuesday (assuming if it goes ahead).
