This sodden weather

Recommended Posts

As it is likely that the current rainy spell is going to continue over the weekend, the final weekend of the season, what happens if the pitches are unplayable? This week our Youth team have had Southern Youth League games called off at Cobham and Molesey, and we have a heavy clay base under our pitch which usually means that weather like this would see our game postponed - and we are at home to Farnham Town on Saturday. Will players be available after Saturday?

Finding a new date for Guernsey v Spelthorne won't be easy bearing in mind Premier & Muratti Cup Finals.

And the League Trophy Presentations at Guildford & Guernsey were due after their games this weekend - bit of a anti-climax if the games are postponed.

Has to be the wettest drought on record

TW, I can imagine players will be available as any games called off on Saturday will probably be played next Tuesday/Wednesday as there are no games arranged for next with the season finishing this Saturday. This happened last season !

Ryman League Clubs have been told, that if their game cannot go ahead Saturday,it must be played Sunday.Be interesting to see if the Officials at these venues, apply the strict code then, as they have applied all year.Health and Safety MUST be paramount surely. Then rhere is the other side, regards promotion, relegation, some teams will know what they have to do,if games are not played on the same day. This would affect crowds surely.

Stupid decision based on the weekend forecast!

The Ryman League have obviously taken this decision due to play off games being scheduled. I don't believe that a referee would play the game on Sunday if the conditions were still considered to be dangerous (eg standing water)

I doubt there are players in this league who are on contract but I was having this discussion with a H & R fan at work and, of course, a good deal of the sides at Step 4 and above are contracted. If they are not involved in any play-offs or promotion/relegation deciders would they be contracted to play after the official end of the season, or would they have to play other, perhaps more youtful, players (or anyone they have registered)?
