Walkers' Progress

Ian

Recommended Posts

Nurse Riley has been doing some intensive work on my feet this morning in a frantic attempt to get me back on the road for todays walk. The blisters are covering my total foot area and they don't seem to make plasters that BIG??

I think God was trying to tell me something yesterday when I saw a sign in Princes Risborough pointing to RETIREMENT HOMES.

Thanks to the support team yesterday:- Ian for driving us thru the puddle and Pippa for the lift home.

Four weary walkers were deposited in Stoke Mandeville at just gone 10am. They were aiming for 21 miles today but are talking about trying to do 3 or 4 extra to reduce the mileage tomorrow.

Lots of aches which will hopefully ease after a couple of miles.

They are currently on the very long and tedious A413 out of Aylesbury which goes on for about 16 miles - that's a nightmare on foot and will take them about 5 hours. Kay said the group had got a bit spread out with everyone needing to walk at their own pace.

Arrived at guest house about half eight after a long and what can only be described as sodden day. Only soaked through twice. My feet look pretty terrible and my legs are aching to the extent that i can't identify specific areas of pain. With the conditions we have experienced today a game of football tomorrow seems unlikely but we haven't let this demoralise us.

While me and Martin lie in bed next to each other we are both compiling messages about today so let's see how our experiences compare. We finally arrived at our (very nice) guest house at about 845 after what can only bf described as a horrendous day. Torrential rain for 4 straight hours, 50% of the main roads having sharp bends, lots of hills and no pathways and very painful feet. However spirits remain high(ish) and despite today's conditions putting tomorrows game in particular doubt we shall battle on regardless. Goodnight to all!!!

Just spoken to Kay. They had hoped to set off at 7:30am but the guest house is currently filled with the sound of hair dryers trying to get yesterday's rain water out of their shoes.

They are suspecting the game to be cancelled which in one way will be terrible for their motivation but will also take the time pressure off for today. They have 18 miles still to do. Great effort.

We've never really had rain on the walks before so this is a sterling effort. Well done to Radders, Pete, Martin and Kay.

Now, if it is called off, how are the walkers getting home? Who is travelling up to pick them up?

If the game is off they are going to carry on walking to the ground so complete the challenge and I will drive up to bring them back.
