Not just faceless rumour!!

Recommended Posts

I've heard an interesting thing at the club... Even as we prepare to face life again, too soon back in Div One next season, there is a lot of excitement at MV SCR over new sponsorship and finally some player budget, no figures yet but sounds interesting...!!
A faceless rumour with an avtar like that.....lol. Edited by Weeble

tempest, do you seriously think that SCR MV aren't still looking for a new ground?

Like us, it is number 1, 2 and 3 priority, but in the meantime I'm pleased for them if they've got some extra money in. Hope to see them back the following season. In Step Five, that is :D

We had several conversations with the local council over a new ground earlier this year, including several meetings with them and the Football Foundation, all of which seemed to be progressing well.

Then they decided to mention, at the 3rd meeting, that the proposed area was actually Metropolitan Open Land, and our plans for it would not be deemed acceptable, so we are back to square one.

As E&E Ed says, we are constantly liaising with the council to find a permanent base, but they don't like to make things easy.

In the meantime - we have to work to stay at Step 5/6 level to ensure that when we do eventually find a home, they council we see it as a worthwhile cause.

Judging by your efforts at Stanley Park Briggers, I am sure the council will back you when you find the right venue.

Would be great to have a CCL club playing in Sutton IMHO!!!

Where was the land you looked at recently? (you can PM me).

Local Authorities need to have a good look at themselves. Especially in the South of England, where the blue rinse brigade reign supreme, there is more chance of funding for tennis and bowling clubs than for football. Maidenhead is a prime example where the town's rugby club has been given something like £250,000 for ground improvements. Sadly, football is still regarded as being awash with thugs and hooligans by the Daily Mail readership.

You're actually wrong there Hayden, it's the people who vote the Local Authorities in who need to have a good look at themselves ! Maidenhead Rugby Club did what no other sports club in the Borough have done - they asked the LA if they had any funding to spare and the answer was yes ! Perhaps if we actually asked for some Section 106 funds instead of talking about it we might actually get some too. Getting into bed with a partner intent on spending as little as possible instead of one for whom money seemed no object strikes me as being a bit negative as well !

I have to agree with Hayden, at least as far as the MoleValley area is concerned.

If you want to play rugby, money seems to be no object.

If its the glorious working-class game, then it's a case of, 'S0d 'Em - We Don't Care !'

Lease at DFC a case in question.

M.V.S.C.R's pitch debacle - another case in question.

As I've said before and it don't seem to register with some of you, football is a poor relation in the south east of England behind Rugby, Cricket, and Golf (in no particular order ) now if you could just accept that just because we love it we are not going to change the way the hierachy think, fact.
