ETFC - Cooperman

Maybe we should start thinking about running a reserve side. As Invis said the other day, the reserve side we could theoretically put out would be very useful. It's nice to have all these players fighting for a place in the side, but i'm sure the likes of Keke, Andy Carr and Ulatowski would benefit from competitive football of some kind rather than waiting around for injuries before getting a chance. I'm sure it would be logistically difficult to think about running a second side but eventually we're going to need to do so. It would also be nice to have a way of easing injured players such as Ian Cooper and John Everitt back to full fitness without throwing them in at the deep end.

didn't realise John Cooper was still playing!

I bumped into him a couple of years ago when I worked in Holborn (he worked for Camden Council - probably still does - round the corner from my old office). He actually looked fitter than when he was playing.

If you have a lot of players not getting matches, the best thing to do is arrange friendlies with local sides as and when you need them.

We have joined the Herts County League Senior Reserve Section this season and the likes of ourselves, St. Margaretsbury, Ware, Cheshunt and Hertford Town (to name just a few) don't get many midweek fixtures so I'm sure a few local friendlies could be arranged.

All you would need to do is make sure that clubs realise you are just sending a squad side and not to necessarily expect them to be accompanied by 150-200 spectators.

good point; but we might still take a fair few supporters for away games; especially if it is mid week and there is no first team games.

come on Andy u know u want to do it!
