Bognor away

Recommended Posts

Was speaking to some of the lads last night - sounds like Bognor away is gonna be mental. Seems everyone is coming back for it.

One or two of them (Costello, Fenton) were talking about staying down there for the weekend, but I'll be getting a train early on Saturday morning, as will Pete and Alan, I think.

What are everyone else's plans for this match - sure now to be our only decent away trip of the season??

It looks like most of EFM F.C all want to come as well. I think we will have atleast 30 in the firm for Bognor.

I stiil think we should all learn at least a few words in Latin for the trip.

Perhaps zeal you could throw a few sentences on here which the firm might use and then translate into Latin so we can start learning.

I've managed to find my year 9 Latin workbook! Here's some phrases that may(not) be useful:

Regimus: we rule

Volubilis non est Laetus. Aquam in Culuna bibit. Vinum bibere vult

Volubilis (or EFM member) is not happy. He is drinking water in the kitchen. He wants to drink wine (or Cloudy Cider)

Salvius est dominus. Salvius servos diligenter inspicit,

Salvius is the master. Salvius inspects the slaves carefully.(not quite sure in what situation that would be relevant!)

Volo/Nolo:I want/Don't want

Vis/Non Vis: You(s) want/Don't want

Vult/Non Vult: He/She/it want/ Don't Want

Volumus/Nolumus: we want/Don't want

Vultis/Non Vultis: You (p) want/don't want

Volunt/ Nolunt: They want/Don't want

Ego multas villas habeo:

I have many houses

Caecilius pecuniam numerat:

Caecillius is counting his money.

It also says in my book that all Roman citizens had 3 names:' Because Caecilius was a Roman citizen he had 3 names. His names were Luccius Caecilius Lucundus. The first name is like a modern first name. His second name, Caecilius, was to show that he was a member of the caeciliys 'clan'. The third name is like our surnames.' So you need to adopt a third name then!

hehehe...this one would be used after one of EFM's notorious drinking sessions:

Cerberus via dormit

Cerberus sleeps in the street! <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I have a whole sheet of verbs! Here's some more:

Agito: chase, hunt

Clamo: Shout

Celebro: Celebrate

Incito: Urge on, encourage

Lacrimo: Weep

Neco: Kill(!)

Porto: Carry

Servo: Save

Taceo: be silent

Negotium ago: do 'business'

Bibo: Drink

Curro: Run

Emitto: send out, throw

Surgo: Get up rise.

Hope these will be of some use to you!
