Goals from midfield

I have a 'rule of thumb' that a decent midfield achieves about 24-30 goals from its midfield players-normally accumulated by 5/6 players who play in midfield over the season.About 6 each-and ideally 8

Now i have gone on about midfield being our relative 'weakness' this season-and still maintain thats the case, but overall-the goals from midfield players has been reasonable this season.

Stubbs 6 (maybe as a penalty taker-you need him to be getting 8 at least )

Bodkin 5

Avery 4

corneill1

arguably robinson a couple although he must be dizzy knowing if he is a defender, central midfield, wide midfield or striker !

so with really only 4 'regular' midfield players all season, whilst i maintain its not the best midfield in the world-,those 16 goals fall a bit short of what is required-but not too bad overall.

Maybe over the next two games-they may get another 3 goals between them to make it look a decent return.

On similar lines-i reckon Bradbrooks 9 goals as a striker from just 23 appearances is a fair return and not recognised enough

Corneille and Avery are more defensive operating m/f so no surpise their goal tally is low. Would have expected a higher return from Stubbs and Bodkin though. Suprised Robinson hasn't chipped in with a few more. Also very few goals from our defenders. Maybe we should work a lot more on our set pieces. I'm not a Bradbrook fan I'm afraid and If I was CK the first priority for next season would be a new striker. Makes you wonder where we would have ended up without Kwesi?

Well, as for the Kwesi debate, we would almost cretainly have not had such a good striker but would still have him!

I think I'm right in saying of the leading teams only Hornchurch and Wealdstone have a player on more than 20 league goals (Tuohy and Jolly, who ran the London Marathon so I wonder what state he'll be in tomorrow). All the other challenging sides have spread the goals around. Which makes sense when you see what happened to us when Kwesi left.
