Ricay odds on staying in Conf South...

Having watched what I can only describe as a very non-eventual game against the supposed league leaders ..... the only thing that is upper-most in my mind is we will probably play them again in two seasons. Am I being harsh, NOT one notch as they were woeful in defence and their attack was slow and in-effectual. We were'nt that much better but then we are'nt top of the league.

Do Ricay deserve to go up, with out a doubt because they won the games in front of them and pretty much stuck to their gameplan throughout the season, will they stay in Conf South .......

HELL NO and without any bias whatsoever they WILL get their A***s kicked unless their board inject some serious money/players that can play football. Any Ricay fans reading this will if they are honest with themselves realise that what I'm saying is truthful and will wish that their directors have seen the need to improve on a very "average" team.

they dont lose games,we had won more until today but they don't lose, worthy champions, especially with hornchurch & Lowestoft unable to do anything at the moment

Rob if they cant beat lowly ole us with no striker... even the bottom teams in Conf South will hand them their back sides on a plate. Not sour grapes fella just that this season not one team has shone or out played any other team of the park like teams that have gone before, hope Im wrong but in this case Im pretty positive the mighty ricay will be playing Ryman Prem sooner rather than later..... :(

Maybe so but i think the top end of the connie south is a very good standard, the bottom is full of sh1te.

I think its still 3/4 years away from settling down as a league of its own,its only been formed 7 years and there was some dross in there to start with, most have gone but some still remain, although each year it loses another side, thurrock will go this year and i am not sure you will see them back any time in the near future.

You describe our attack as slow and ineffectual, and we have no prolific strikers, yet we have the most goals over the season. We have to be judged over 42, not 1 or 2, We have a solid defence, and although no one would say we are pretty to watch we are hard to beat. Removing any club bias and presuming we can keep the core of our team id be surprised if we were in relegation trouble next season. As EU has said the bottom of the BSS is probably no better than the top half of the rymans.

Billericay ...Tall defenders to deal with the ryman norm of hoisting the ball up field and got away with it all season well done. but very weak when run at with the ball on the ground not that many clubs are able to be set up to do that hence the hoist forward approach. Best player this afternoon was Ricay's no 4 covered more effective ground than anyone else and took all the attacking throw in's until they put on the guy with the torpedo throw. Great afternoons entertainment good to see a big crowd. Margate's MOM for me Well a draw between John Beales and Richard Avery.

wealdstone tuesday night should be a battle royal as they need to win for the playoffs

Not there-so can't comment on specifics-but as CK says in his interview-what billericay do is effective.

A good manager sets up his team to be effective and winners in that specific league.

Billericay have a set up to win the ryman-and all credit to them.

In this league-an average big 'un will do better than a good small one all day long (danny stubbs excepted of course !!)

It may need something different in conf south-and definately in the conference premiership-but you take one step at a time.

I wonder if CK will try and sign a few 'giants' to help us do the same thing next season.

Never mind pretty football-i just want effective and winning football.

Interesting that Chris wild has done ok for billericay this season;but he hardly made much of an impact when at Margate !

For a fan of a club that's been reprieved of relegation twice in recent seasons from The Ryman Premier your quite cocky. We've never made it as far up the ladder as conference south so let us have our moment and enjoy it. And if it all goes balls up we won't be the first ehhhh...

Disgree with You Danny (Andy), they are big and physical and, IMO, will do pretty well in Conference South. We did exremely well over our two games with them to pick up 2 draws, as Rob says they dont lose many, a sign surely of a good team?

They'll do OK in that league. As others have mentioned, the bottom half of the Conf South and top half of the Ryman are pretty similar in standard. They have a decent spine to their team: good keeper, solid centre backs, decent holding midfielder and strong centre forwards... I shouldn't think they'd go too far wrong next year

On another note, bumped into a few Ricay fans walking along Margate seafront Saturday night, all with kebabs in hand. Very friendly lot, even after my tongue-in-cheek jibes about our 'Top of the league, you're having a laugh' chants. Was nice to see a good away turnout

From the original post:

Having watched what I can only describe as a very non-eventual game ...

You were at the wrong end to see much of the ball, I'm afraid

against the supposed league leaders .....

the phrase you are looking for is "champions"

the only thing that is upper-most in my mind is we will probably play them again in two seasons. Am I being harsh, NOT one notch as they were woeful in defence....

Yet you only managed to score from penalties?

We were'nt that much better but then we are'nt top of the league...

Not much better?! You think you were better?

Do Ricay deserve to go up, with out a doubt because they won the games in front of them and pretty much stuck to their gameplan throughout the season...

Correct!

will they stay in Conf South .......

HELL NO and without any bias whatsoever they WILL get their A***s kicked unless their board inject some serious money/players that can play football....

This is non league football. What you need is a good manager and an organised team. Yes, there will need to be a couple of squad additions, but if Craig can keep the same team spirit, mid-table is more than likely.

Any Ricay fans reading this will if they are honest with themselves realise that what I'm saying is truthful and will wish that their directors have seen the need to improve on a very "average" team.

Presumably you have seen Riccay play once, or possibly twice, this season?

The game on Saturday was not about how we played - it was all about getting the point we needed to win the league.

Job done.

Please look at the facts over the season - fewest losses, most goals scored, fewest goals conceded, second most wins and, most importantly, most points.

I would be more than happy to see exactly the same starting line-up at our first game next season, and build as we go.

We all had a great day at a really nice and friendly ground.

I, too, hope we see you in two seasons, but in the BSS...
