im staying on mate and relishing next season. Be good to get in the players that I absolutely want, instead of whats left available.

 

I managed to secure a big sponsorship deal for the club too which helps. Pitch looking excellent, extending the home dressing room, smartening up the ground as we speak, and I am talking to lots of players about pre-season.

 

You were quite right about the time involved in being manager which was made even harder being player manager and even harder when the reserve team manager left as i took the reigns there too. In one week i did, Saturday 1st team (played), Monday, reserve team (managed and came on as sub), wednesday, reserve team (managed only), Thursday (trained), Saturday 1st team (played). IT WAS ONE HELL OF A BUSY WEEK!!!!!

 

I even managed to handle the media when heavily questioned about our ability to avoid relegation!!!u

JJ, if you recall way back when you took over Chertsey, I did say that being a player amanger will take its toll let alone being just a manager. That decision day will have to be made for the best of the team and for your own sanity ! Being a manager gives your OWN insight of how things are going and what needs to be improved, which is difficult to analyse when playing I'm afraid.

 

im not the first player manager ever and wont be the last. But thanks for the advice NG. An opportunity arose and I took it with advice from many corners. The one thing I dont have that many other managers have is undue pressure to succeed. The club knew the battle presented to them when Spencer left both financially and the lack of a squad. They were prepared for a return to step 5 and accepted it was highly likely. I took over only on the basis that the club wanted to stay in the southern league. Both Ian Selley and myself told them we didnt want the job if it meant accepting relegation.

 

I understand the issues I face of being player manager but I have a good assistant manager who is highly experienced and passes on his knowledge. This stands me in good stead.

Duncs people always played for you and not the money that is won you have won so much as a manager ;) Mind you if you were my manager I would have been scared to leave :)

 

Hey NG you finished on Cambo now. Good to see you didnt deny I knew what clubs you had managed so it must be true !!!!

Yeah it MUST be true then Kroonntz....but how did you find out ? :o ..now that would be interesting to know? So don't evade the question, and why are you still evading Smudgeyboy's questions ...come on Kroontzz chop, chop ! ;)
