I'm all for the improvement of standards of refereeing but equally i'm all for the improvement of standards of those who are often critical of them. By the latter I mean greater knowledge of the LOTG, understanding how those are applied and providing constructive criticism using the appropriate means to do so.

 

Others in this thread, notably Observer 89, and myself in other threads, have detailed how the assessment and promotion / demotion of referees by the FA is undertaken within the CCL so that those outside of refereeing circles understand that poor performance is not condoned but is addressed with remedial action(s).

 

I make no apologies if I come across as 'mightier than thou' on an internet forum as I would say the same thing to you in person and have done so after a game this season!

 

I have a great memory Gluck,care to name the game where we spoke?

No we haven't......but I was only pulling your leg!!

 

X-rays have shown a fractured elbow and also a fragment of bone floating about. Waiting on MRI and CT scan results, but won't get those til Monday as my consultant is on his hols this week!!! Had been getting a run til the season end and felt results had improved.

 

Doesn't look good for the final though

You were polite, courteous, respectful, etc, and it was good to speak with you. We, and the ARs on the game, had good, wide-ranging chat with you and it was a bonus to put a face to a name. We had similar views on some subjects and dissimilar views on others but that's only natural.

It was a good game with some quality goals scored by both sides. Players on both sides were keen to play football and get on with things which consequently made my life easy with little for me to do. I don't remember if I bought you a beer or not.
