team v Bedworth

Wasn't there but looking at the twitter feed we copped a hiding and did well to only lose by 2 goals in the end!

Have to say, I feared this would happen today after watching Bedworth at Holloways, to go in 4-4-2 was suicide in my opinion, Brown should be starting!

Anyways, could potentially be over next Saturday with the goal difference lead St Neots have!

We've been great this season but looks like we are going to fall short, still not over but I think the fat lady is about to sing!

One last note, we need to buck our ideas up if it is the play offs, on recent performances, I don't think we are favourites to win them! I for one won't relish facing Bedworth in the final if that's what it ends up being!

I don't wont to be too negative but on current form I wouldn't back us to beat any team in the play-offs.

The play-offs are all about momentum and we certainly don't have that.

Don't understand why the panic button was hit after the North Greenford defeat! There were too many points to play for, I've said it before and I'll say it again, with the squad of players we have, playing 4-4-2 leaves us far too open!

All is not lost but we need to go back to what has served us so well this season, 3-5-2, clean sheets and 1-0 or 2-0 wins! When we clawed back level last week or even 2 points behind we should've reverted to our solid base, now we've left ourselves with a mountain to climb and possibly giving the other play off teams more confidence against us!

I am worried because I do honestly believe that, if we do not get what we deserve this season and that is promotion, this current squad could potentially be broken up and we'll have another rebuilding job on our hands, we already know we are losing Coyne, and will players like Brown, Logie and Anderson stick around not knowing if they will start from one week to the next? I doubt it! Also, rumours persist about the retirements of Abbey and Perkins!

COME ON BOYS, PLEASE GET US OUT OF THIS DIVISION!

COME ON YOU REBELS!!!

Think this sums up how we are when Brown does or does not play:

With Brown:

P 28 W19 D 6 L 3 GF 52 GA 23 PTS 63

Without Brown:

P 12 W 6 D 3 L 3 GF 20 GA 15 PTS 21

Much more solid with Alex Brown in the team, really hope he sticks with us at the end of the season!

Due to Perkins injury and NBH being suspended I don't think SB has much choice other than to play Alex Brown against Leighton.

Must say since SB has changed the formation and left Brown out we've gone from a team that was hard to beat to a team that's started to leak goals for fun.

Last 6 games conceeded 10

Previous 6 games with Brown in the team conceeded 4.

We've played most of the season and based our success this season on a solid, settled defensive back-line which had given us the best defensive record in this division.

I'm completely baffled as to why SB has seen the need to change things at such an important time in the season.

I agree RR... Next week Brown has to come back in and with NBH suspended we should still revert to 3-5-2 and simply slot Sweeney in as the central defender of the 3 until NBH returns! The appeal on the NBH red card may be successful yet!

I do honestly think that Bateman panicked far to early in an attempt to change our style of play and formation! We've probably created less chances since this "gung ho" style of football has been implemented and inadvertently made the defence disjointed and potentially lost the league title!

As we are the 2nd placed team in the leauge and to conceed 5 goals - which was the worst in our leauge it shows just how badly Bateman got it wrong yesterday.

The other question is - has Bateman actually got that final killer instinct to get promotion or is he just a lucky average manager.

With the number of players potentially leaving in the close season it will mean a rebuild of the team and should that also include a rebuild of the management?

Really?

Bateman has got the club into its best finish on the field in years after steady progression regardless of what happens in the next 2-4 games.

You'd think Slough had just got relegated with some of the chat on here. No team has the right to get promoted.

One word Tom, BUDGET!!!

I think it is clear that we are all worried, no one is talking like we have been relegated!

And if we do go up - which is still on the cards? I guess what I'm saying is, why the negative vibes now when there's so much to play for?

If we do go up then nothing changes! I just think B&C raised a valid point, not saying I agree or disagree but questions are always asked in football!!! There is still a lot to play for and I don't think anyone is being negative, we just need to get back on track and I think everyone knows how we need to do that!!!

Despite what SB was quoted as saying in the papers, there is going to be NO appeal on the red card for NBH.

You might just understand why our chairman does what he does, whatever happens we are never negative he keeps us very positive. Both clubs have had a great season and are the two best teams in the league. His last interview said we have no divine right to win this league and if it's the play offs it will still be some achievement. Be positive have faith in your team and club and you will get promotion either as champions or via the play offs. Good teams don't become bad overnight. We are stumbling as well 104 goals this season and we now look at times as though we could be there all day and not score, why ! Same with you "pressure" confidence all comes from motivation, get them motivated and they will come through for you .

Hope you get there.

We have a good chance to get promoted still, and you're discussing a change of manager? Embarrassing.

I think it's a very valid point Matt, if we don't go up something will have to give after 3 cracks at promotion!!!

Personally, I think Burger & Chips has come up with a good point.

Twice in recent weeks, we have clawed our way right back into the title race (either through our own good work, or from St. Neots dropping points), only to twice bottle it and throw it all away. Certainly during the North Greenford game, you'd have thought that the players considered the season to have already ended! Yesterday, you'd have thought it was Bedworth going for the title and not us!

I too am still at a loss to explain why Bateman reverts to a 4-4-2 with Burnell & Sonner up front when this hasn't worked well for weeks, whereas when we bring Jerome Anderson on and put him down the wing, things start to happen for us. He scored once and should have got another yesterday! I also wonder why he took Ollie Burgess off and left on Chris Herron, who quite frankly looked unfit, bored and and simply not interested. I can only assume that this had something to do with an injury, but the way he was working he certainly didn't look injured!

Anyway, the title is still (mathematically) possible, and I expect the players to go all out until this is no longer the case, just like we did for 5 minutes yesterday. COYR!

Wtf we are finishing 2nd at worst and we want to replace a manager who took over a terrible team and has got us into play offs consistently absolutely idiotic talk! All of us play manager and decide what we'd do I regularly disagree with batemans subs- but and this is a big but- he had been a main influence in turning round the worst squad I've ever seen play for slough into strong promotion prospects! Cannot agree with you guys at all here! Ridiculous!
