team v Bedworth

You have to question the wisdom of dropping Alex Brown, 'cos ever since he was dropped we've been shipping silly goals. Boy did we miss him today!

So disappointed that we clawed it back having been outplayed, only to then go down without a fight!

Wasn't there but looking at the twitter feed we copped a hiding and did well to only lose by 2 goals in the end!

Have to say, I feared this would happen today after watching Bedworth at Holloways, to go in 4-4-2 was suicide in my opinion, Brown should be starting!

Anyways, could potentially be over next Saturday with the goal difference lead St Neots have!

We've been great this season but looks like we are going to fall short, still not over but I think the fat lady is about to sing!

One last note, we need to buck our ideas up if it is the play offs, on recent performances, I don't think we are favourites to win them! I for one won't relish facing Bedworth in the final if that's what it ends up being!

Totally agree with Nathan.

Results on the pitch and perfances defensively have dipped significantly since Brown was dropped. Our last clean sheet and decent defence performance was at St Neots, Browns last game.

Think this sums up how we are when Brown does or does not play:

With Brown:

P 28 W19 D 6 L 3 GF 52 GA 23 PTS 63

Without Brown:

P 12 W 6 D 3 L 3 GF 20 GA 15 PTS 21

Much more solid with Alex Brown in the team, really hope he sticks with us at the end of the season!

Missing some Chris Sliski positivity today as I cannot find any positives from todays game apart from the fact that we scored THREE goals away from home. Unfortunately our defence that has served us so well for most of the season fell apart today.

The point about the recent absence of Alex Brown from the team is a point very well made.

Not picking out any one player or manager, but there was no structure to the team, no ability to stay in a formation, no ability to do any of the simple things, no communication on or off the pitch, no discipline, no motivation to chase down balls, no working back when we were under attack, no ambition to pick up 3 points from this game, no hope of getting past the first game in the play offs.

Other wise it was ok.

It's not over till it's over, but boy this will be hard work to do as champions now! only one team appeared to want anything today, and it was not us. please note i said appeared, not that they did not try. we knew from the home game that they were a tidy team, but we let them play to their strengths. we knew the no 9 was a knobhead, but we did not try to wind him up at all, his own team did that for us. hard to stay positive, but it not ovet quite yet.

I was in the midlands today but not at the match. To see the scoreline is disappointing but expected a difficult challenge at bedworth despite my optimism about coming home with the points.

It looks like it is the playoffs then. I just hope the management don't try to be clever by resting too many players so we go into the semi final half baked.

Obviously won't mathematically be over if we beat Leighton on Saturday, but I can't see Newts picking up their generosity of recent games next weekend.

More important things to think about before then. Chris deserves a fitting send off and I hope there will be a great turnout on Wednesday from the Rebels community.

Actually gutted at the moment! Really do feel that Bateman needs to revert to a 3-5-2 formation for the last 2 league games and go into the play offs with the same formation, also pick the same 11 for the next 2 games that will start the play offs! Also, I know people won't agree with me but I think that Anderson and Abbey should start the last 2 league games, and without a doubt Brown needs to come back in! Boy, we are missing Adam Martin and Chris Seeby!

That was definitely not worth the 250 mile round trip.

We looked so sub-standard today all over the pitch, it's hard to pick out anyone who played even slightly well. Yes we scored 3 away from home, but that is no excuse for the poor control of the ball in all areas and stupid defensive mistakes which I thought we had cut out.

You can't argue with the stats, since Bateman fiddled with the team and started leaving Brown out of a very successful defence after the St Neots game things have gone downhill. It's not even been the 'gung-ho' football that we were told we would get in a bid to chase down St Neots. We haven't been losing games (before today) but we have been conceding more goals and finding games more difficult since Brown has been out of the team. Particularly annoying considering he didn't do anything to deserve getting dropped.

Looks like the playoffs now, once again after getting ourselves into a good position some poor decisions mean that we have lost ground again. We need to get 2 wins from the last 2 games and revert to our successful 3-5-2 from pre-St Neots match ahead of the playoffs. There is little point playing 4-4-2 after playing most of the season playing 3-5-2.

We can bounce back from this and we can play better, but we need to get back to playing the way we are suited to.
