How many go down

And what div will Baldock go into?

It was reported that Baldock Town (Herts County League) had not achieved the FIFA One Star standard required for their 3G pitch at the North Herts Arena and furthermore The FA have deemed that a caged pitch is not acceptable at Step 6 and above. Therefore in the circumstances, their application to join the League could not proceed.

You have to make the FA right to rebuff Baldock Town's application

Pitch with a cage around, RIDICULOUS!!! Cant believe they even considered applying

Is that what it is? Perhaps they should put money into facilities rather than players pockets

I think Borhamwood reserves were at one point touted as coming across to the SSML but they also play in a caged 3G but also with the overhead wires used to separate the pitch for 3 x 5 a side pitches. The only time I played there the ball must have hit the wires at least 20 times - I'm sure it wasn't a full sized pitch either unless my kicking improved considerably for one week only. Even better the away "dugout" involved standing behind a 5 a side goal level with one of the penalty areas whereas the home one was on the half way line

So, would a 3/4G pitch in a Stadium be allowed and up to what level?

Do Russia not play on such a surface.

I played at Durham and they had one I'm pretty sure you could have it in the league but they are not allowed to be used in FA Cup ties

Correct Russia have played on a 3G and that to some extent is the problem for BTFC, their is only one standard for any 3G surface and your general training 3G surface doesn't meet it (something to do with the role of the ball on the surface etc..) never mind the 80's style cage

With so many clubs playing on sub-standard surfaces/pitches.

Matches called off due to unsuitable, not safe, waterlogged...............(take your pick) pitches.

Unable to train on your pitch (see above). Fear of overuse.

With many clubs at the lower end and even higher finding it harder and harder financially.

With the need to bring local areas together as one (Youth to Senior).

Would the FA (and Leagues) not think of changing its view and support finanically the move to 3/4G pitches.

We are looking at if. One off cost little to no maintenance you can put it work for you by hiring it out etc... Can't play in a cage though!!!

Agree with Cage. No way.

But with a Stadium at Step 5/6 onwards the Club could lock up and hire out a surface that could be used 24/7.

Definitely be a great thing to hire you could prob cover costs for a season by having a power league on it not to mention extra takings at the bar midweek
