Epsom & Ewell F.C. Club Announcement

Recommended Posts

Official Club Press Release

Epsom & Ewell Football Club can now advise that following our two-year tenure at Merstham’s pleasant Moatside venue, we will be moving to take up a similar arrangement with Chipstead F.C. commencing in the 2012/13 season.

We wish to place on record our thanks to Merstham F.C. and their officials for their help and assistance over this period.

Chipstead’s High Road ground is also of Step Four standard and it too possesses excellent facilities. It is also slightly nearer to the Borough of Epsom & Ewell. In addition, the package offered to us was extremely attractive and will enable us to reduce costs at a crucial time for the club.

It is with this in mind that the Club Committee have also decided to withdraw both the Reserve Team and the Youth Team from competition with effect from the end of the season.

The cost of running these two teams forms a substantial part of our outgoings, and it was felt that these were unsustainable in our current situation.

Our Manager, Lyndon Buckwell is fully aware of the situation and has been kept informed at every stage of the process. The lack of a Reserve Team will represent an additional challenge for him, although it should be mentioned that the Epsom & Ewell Colts continue to run a very successful under eighteens team and a closer tie between them and ourselves is something we will be working on in the coming months. He is already looking positively towards his seventh season in charge.

Nothing yet Duncs. Still looking at some options but nothing concrete just now.

It is only our third share in 19 years though. As far as I could trace, the Banstead tenure (17 seasons) was the longest "one club" temporary groundshare in British football history.

Unless anyone knows different.
