Travel if we go up

Recommended Posts

Just been looking at the traveling we would need to do if we went up.

Nearest club would be Chesham, then Hemel, then Oxford - no next door derbys.

Then we are starting to look at 40 mile plus runs - and nothing in the direction of Brighton!

This is assuming we would go up to the Evo-Stik Premiership - is there any chance of us going in a different leauge / area?

Not sure what others think, as currently we are the best away supported team in the leauge by a mile, but this could make some question the amount of games they went to?

You sound surprised that you are the most supported away team Burgerman...You should be with all the local games around youv'e had this season.. Not much too brag about I would say..

We have only Biggleswade in spitting distance, the rest apart from Barton are at least 45 miles away.. It will indeed be interesting too see how your away support is when you actually do have to travel :D

We had more fans walk to Worthing a few years ago than lots of clubs take away in this league. Never had any trouble taking numbers to the likes of Margate, Dover, salisbury etc the last time we were at premier level, and as mentioned above, took plenty on our travels to not so near conference neighbours like Gateshead, Macclesfield, Altrincham and co. Hell, we even managed a good 50-70 on a Thursday night in bridgwater when relegation beckoned for a second straight season so think we will do fine thank you.

Chillout Cookham. No dig intended.. Just stating facts as Rafa would say.

Don Juan..You did bring a great support to our ground and I'm sure if the dates of the fixtures had been reversed you would of seen an equal amount at yours?

Nathan.. Don't know if your refering to me or Burger and Chips with regard travelling distances to away games as too far?He started the subject of away travel over 40 miles.. as for me I've only missed three away games this season does that make me a true fan in your honest opinion

Whilst Slough appear to have a good many 'local derbies', many of them are not necessary the most attractive opponents. Some places are look forward to such as Bedfont who are a very friendly club. However, our away attendances at far flung places has pushed the top attendances for several teams in addition to the so called locals. It is great that St Neots have good support and long may that continue. This is new for them and enjoy the good times. Bad times will come and I hope their fans stay with the club. Great attendance for rawsaint away. I suspect that 50+ Slough fans have attended every away fixture this term and mostly on Saturdays around 100. I must confess missing a few away cup games including Hanworth Villa on the basis of the poor bahaviour at the 'home' game. I also have never yet made it to Barton Rovers!
