Mangotsfield. Sunday game???

Recommended Posts

Why is the game on Sunday?? Are they expecting trouble?? This is the first season i've been able to attend all our home games coz just moved back this way and feel really safe being with the 'Canvey family'. I attend the games alone (hubby's a Chelski fan and reckons he wont lower his standards - what arguments that has caused) and was gonna travel up there but am now a bit worried.

Whats the score?? Please help me out.

Cheers <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

This is a strange one. Apparently Mangotsfield have moved the game on police advice which let's face it is a very rare occurance for an FA Cup qualifying game.

I could have understood it if they were playing another local side like Hereford who are likely to bring about 2,000 supporters but we'll bring barely 250.

What if Mangotsfield got into the Doc Martens Prem and played Bath City which would be a local derby and attract in excess of 1000 people? Would they have to play that on Sunday?

Got a feeling there is an ulterior motive to all this and they've switched the game to a Sunday to attract a larger crowd. With Bristol City or Rovers likely to be at home on the Saturday, they've switched this one in the hope they can get a bigger crowd.

Only other reason is maybe the police don't want a lot of traffic going through Mangotsfield that day.

We were buggered about by Southend, we were buggered about by Yeovil, we were buggered about by Northwich - we lost all three.

Why don't Canvey take a tough line on this one? Ban them even! (it has been known.)

The police have moved the game because either Bristol Rovers or City are Home why this should interfere with this game I do not Know I think they have got this one wrong.

It's Bristol City (my old team - I've always had a soft spot for Britol Cities) who are at home on Saturday. How on earth this could affect the Mangotsfield game is beyond me. Ashton Gate (in SW Bristol) is as far away from Mangotsfield (in NE Bristol) as you can get as still be in the same city. The two grounds are further apart than Park Lane is from Roots Hall.

No, there must be an ulterior motive.

Pirates fans!!!

Mangotsfield want to try and intimidate us when we get there. Switching it to a Sunday will not only decrease the number of the Yellow Army going, but from what I gather reading between the lines, they want to attract Bristol Rovers fans to come too. More vocal support for the home team the believe means a better atmosphere which would result in more confident players who reckon they could challenge the mighty Gulls!!
