Guernsey do NOT get paid..

Recommended Posts

No player, management, committee, members get paid...as most are all volunteers ! ;)

Travel and accomodation paid by sponsors Sportingbet.

So Guernsey must have a brilliant bank balance.

So far this season, total league and cup attendances 22,747 which is absolutely brilliant for CCL Div.1 that will never be matched BUT @ £4.00 per head = £90,988.00 PLUS programme and PLUS merchandise profits. Yes there are overheads to pay obviously, but please, there is no money for your beloved players and management.... I'm finding that hard to chew........someone's raking it in :D !!!

EVERY away game GFC pays for = about 20 air fares and coach plus hotels when overnight.

EVERY Home game GFC pays for = about 20 Air Fares PLUS overnight Hotel & coach for visiting team

do you have any idea how many thousands that costs- every week?? I would guess around £3,500- 4,000 a week

And I believe Sportingbet are underwriters if we need them but I believe the idea was for the club to be self supporting.

So maybe we do rake it in each week but we sure as hell have to pay it out again!!

The point is, players play for the love of the team, hard to swallow with so many jobbing mercenaries out on the circuit? That is why our players are so passionate about the club. While it remains possible, this is a truly amateur club.

So many jealous people who really want to try and disprove this.

Accepted, but are not Aurigny,Hilton Hotels, not Club Sponsors.Even if they are not,800 passengers, and 800 overnight stays, must be well discounted.Just for loyalty alone.Maisie when you fly over to watch,do Guernsey F.C.pay for you?If not why not,you do a sterling job at Footes Lane for Nothing.Would be a goodwill gesture.

Why shouldnt they be paid, numerous players are paid in div 1 and nearly all premier players do, fact! Guernsey have a few like, Allen,Zico,Hueme.Cochrane etc, who could demand decent money at step 3 level so y not, whether they do or dont who cares the fact is they r good enough to be paid. Most of it boils down to jealousy!

I would be very surprised if they aren't paid a little something in the next season or 2 as some have to take time off work and will want to be compensated somehow.

Plus they know that players in the same league are being paid so they are also going to want to get something.

While they are playing for passion at the moment I think it's naive to think it will remain that way.

So contrary to what we were lead to believe Sportingbet are not the club sponsor just the shirt/kit sponsors ? What a gamble if you could imagine that GFC being self supporting with only 200-300 supporters !

Sorry I'm finding this hard to bind........ I believe Sportingbet have alot more to do that just sit there if needed !

ever the expert eh NG? well, I'm really not bothered what you find hard..

Led to believe...whatever!!

It was never envisaged GFC would have the support it has generated from day 1. It was necessary to have underwriting for all the costs regarding travel and accomodation for home and away teams for at least the whole season before the CCL would allow us in.

The fact that supporters have turned out in thousands has meant the club has beem far more self supporting in season 1 than they could have ever dreamed.

There is no conspiracy . I give up. .

Incorrect, does not cover it all.

The Guernsey squad and management are definitely paid, but like others have said, fair play to them - a number of other Div 1 teams also have a budget.

Also I have it on good authority (from a friend who works at sporting bet) that they have more or less financed this season.....and will do again next year. There's nothing wrong with this and I'm sure any other club at this level would be more than happy to take this kind of sponsorship deal. Just think those GFC fans are blinkered when it comes down to the money side, it's nothing to do with jealousy (although how many clubs would be enviousoif this arrangement?!) its just stating facts.

Thanks Chubbs.....I rest my case :D !!!

Didn't someone on this site say that about Windsor at the beginning of the season, that their players got near on to nothing and didn't have a budget of + £1800 per week....... ;) !!!

Out of interest, what difference would it make?

The current Guernsey squad are all from and live in Guernsey, none were brought in from other clubs and all have jobs.

So weather they are paid or not they would all be playing for GFC and I don't see that when they step on the pitch their efforts and dedication would be any different if they were being paid or not. I also doubt that they would move to another team at this level or any similar level just because they would get paid (unless it was a lot of money of course).

Sure I can see the annoyance and jealousy from other teams if they were luring other teams players in or paying good money to bring in players from higher leagues but that's not happened at all.

To all Guernsey fans, a bit of advice from someone who’s been there done it worn the t shirt whatever

Don’t get involved with chats on budgets on here, you won’t win, and I doubt you know what the playing budget is anyway, or you shouldn’t know

This is a similar scenario as AFC Wimbledon, and if you Guernsey want to be as successful as them, concentrate on football, not people speculating on budgets, calling you big time Charlie’s which will happen. Remember every team you play next season in the premier division, will be a cup final for them, and they will be giving 110%, and for you must match that every week, not now and then. This is when all your officials earn their money excuse the pun.
