Match preview: MARGATE vs Horsham

The frustration for many Margate fans is that the apparent talent within the squad is not being translated onto the pitch. Recent form that has seen Gate take four from a possible 18 points – the same as Horsahm – is testament to that.(from the match preview )

Are we all sometimes guilty over over-inflating the apparent 'talent' in our team ?

I am more than happy with the squad for this time of season-but to me-it has always been a mid-table squad-and guess what-we are in mid table.

I concur that the defence 'talent' is probably a bit above average (not so sure same applies to midfield and attack ).

Again-all ok-but is there that much 'talent'.

do we become a bit myopic because many of the players-especially in defence are relatively big 'names' and have been around in the Kent football scene.

However-the same applies to players in London, essex, suffolk etc-where they have similar big names-but maybe not so well known to us in kent.

Thus we could be guilty of over inflating the 'talent' of our players;when maybe players in other arreas have just as much talent/ability-maybe even more-but they are just not so known to us as players ?

Again -not a criticism of who we have-think squad is ok-particularly in terms of quality/price/wages paid coefficent -but in reality-is it any better than ok ?

CK has signed players this season who have played at Conference South level. This would suggest a strong squad for Ryman Prem level (on paper at least).

It is often said that we struggle to get players down to the East Kent coast because of our isolated location relative to the large conurbations. However this applies to the East Anglian teams and they seem to be prospering at this level.
