Lammas v Dorking Wanderers ( Thurs 29th,Surrey Cup Final @ Carshalton FC)

Recommended Posts

wanderers very organised side defo top 5 ccl1 side and if they keep growing the way they are they will be the biggest club in dorking.few more additions to the squad and could be a right handful. u just have to look at the to grounds and wat each clubs have done in the last 5 years sorry to say it but bye bye chickens

Excuse my ignorance but BOTH teams being Dorking clubs could they not amalgamate ? Or is there some ''history'' between the 2 clubs ?

there is a little history between the clubs one moving in one direction and one moving the other it can never be easy seeing u slowly losing the status of dorkings main f.c it shows by the local fans actually driving out the town centre to watch d.w rather than stay in the town to watch the old faithfull. dont get me wrong it would bee the sensible thing to do merge and feed off each other but can never see this happening

Whilst the pot is being well and truly stirred above, Thursday night's referee has been giving his reasons for one or two of his decisions in the comments section on the main youtube page for the video. Always good to see a referee willing to explain why he made certain decisions or why he didn't!

im not sure about "never" , although views are entrenched, commercial and sporting reality comes into play eventually.

Yes Wanderers have charged up the leagues, done wonders at the ground and have good commercial activities. the crowd is good for the standard previously played at.

another step up though, if it happens in coco prem or sussex one, will be a massive step.

A club playing at Meadowbank can increase its attendance and commercial revenue if it steps up , Im not sure if a club at Mickleham could.

In an ideal world, and as a dorking football supporter, Id like to see all of Dorkings football money going into the Meadowbank pitch first, the changing rooms next, and then develop Mickleham as the training ground under 18/reserve venue.

It would have to be thanks but bye bye to Bookham, no Meadowbank groundshares, and a lot of egos getting parked outside.

It would also help if someone local won the lottery. ;)

TSF what you say above is clear and makes logical sense but obviously the £10k or so per season that Bookham have paid over the last 2 seasons will be a massive loss to Dorking now they will not be groundsharing. So how will Dorking fill that hole, will another club be wanting to groundshare with Dorking FC ? Will Dorking have a reserve team next season ? ....and yes I do agree the pitch needs some serious work done to it.

So many questions NG. Dorking v Guildford tomorrow, why not pop along i'm sure Ray will be happy to answer all your questions. You also get to watch the leaders and don't even have to go to the Spectrum!

Nice suggestion Trevor.

I have to say that the future at Meadowbank for the next season is already well under discussion.

Sadly, neither I, nor several of the others in the 'loop' will be there tomorrow on bank-holiday monday, due to work and family commitments.

Had it been an afternoon kick-off, however........

I have no idea about groundsharing. Are there any clubs needing one? Mole valley sutton common rovers wouldn't need to change their name again if they came. Guildford are always welcome !!!!

I just luv your sense of humour, Jeff !

d.w.f.c clinched promotion today on paper not bad back to back promotions in the last years were as the other dorking side only down to luck should have been back to back relegation thats a fact

There you go again - 'Grapes' and 'Sour' !

facts j.r facts lol.

would Dorking have had back to back relegation though?

well done wanderers. It may well be that Wanderers will be Dorkings senior side next year.

They may find the better sides at this level a little bit too good, but they have always stepped and coped before.

I'd like to see more co-operation and less antagonism between the two clubs.

I find it hard to have much emotion about Wanderers one way or another.
