Sandhurst Town 1-3 Cove

A game that started brightly but fizzled out (pun intended ;)). Cove started well and ex-Fizzer Vinnie Bond stuck away an excellent free kick from the edge of the area that Matt Watson could do nothing about, only 4 minutes gone. Cove continued to pour forward and create chances but just before half time goalkeeper Watson was adjudged to have handled outside the area and a red card followed. Seemed harsh. From the resulting free kick on the edge of the area, Bond once again found the top corner beating replacement gk Chris Fermie, for a 2-0 half time lead.

Fizzers started the second half well and the ten men got a goal back in the 51st minute, from yet another free kick. The ten men did very well in a drab second half and although Fermie didn't have a lot to do, he coped well. Fizzers finally got caught again in injury time after they'd thrown everyone forward to get an unlikely equaliser, Cove broke quickly and Aaron Cole-Bolt bagged a 94th minute goal.

Mr Chairman was getting excited over the PA at the end, as apparently Terry Venables is coming down next weekend.....

BLFC players and officials carried themselves very well tonight.

Good game all in all!

your running away with the league perhaps Wednesday would have been perfect for your youth team???

I agree with this why didn't you go full strength for the cup game and put out a reserve/youth side in the league. You can't throw the league away now so I can't understand why this wasn't done.

As I said promotion is the main priority this season for Kevin and Guildford after last season so I doubt tonight was the full strength side! I know 5 of us did not travel due to work commitments

Sounds like sour grapes to me :)

Shame you couldnt admit the best team won like we did when you turned us over ;)

Because the players who couldnt make make the game last night, were given a game on wednesday plus its was good to take some youth team players as they have featured in many of the league cup games .one even scored the winning goal against badshot lea ,but going back to wednesdays game against croydon some of players minds were clearly elswhere because we didant play that well at all

Guildford were never going to put out reserve side weds night in my opinion for 2 reason they were only 7 points clear with 7 games left which was more than catch able and with most of there team living in Croydon it was about local pride as well, and for a 3rd reason gurnsey aint the be all in the premier league this season and I think there have a big shock next season, if that was a league game they would of drop 2 points at home after 90 mins, for them to travel mid week next season they will come across alot stronger sides

To be fair to Guernsey you can only beat what is put in front of you and they have now beaten 3 CCL Prem sides incl 2 of the top 3.

Thanks for the positive comments! Nobody is saying that Guernsey are the be all of the league, but I think that if we approach the games as we have done this season, and maintain our attitude, we can only benefit from the games ahead. Guildford may or may not have had a slightly weaker side, but had very few chances in open play (about two I think), and after the two goals from free kicks (very well taken I might add), Guernsey showed great Character to bring it level, and then go on to win in extra time. We are not naive enough to have any shocks next season, no game is a walk in the park, and each team we play will be respected appropriately.

There are plenty of Wednesdays left on which Guildford could have agreed to play the rescheduled Croydon game.
