Maldon & Tiptree vs Enfield Town

Call me a pessimist, but I reckon it'll be the play-offs for us now! Unless the rumours about leiston's ground are to be believed...

No doubt about that.

Leiston now 7 points in front - not impossible, but very very difficult and of course other teams need to help us big time.

As for their ground - heard it all before - they will get the grading, no worries.

Next Cup Final v Arlow on Saturday.

A very disappointing performance but then we have been spoilt lately.

Todays performance was very poor and I can handle that, given that its our 1st defeat of 2012 and at this level these performances happen at times. However, a couple of issues I wasnt sure about today:

1) Why is Jey Siva not playing? Barber appears to be a decent enough signing and defender but he seems reluctant to go past the half way line. Solid enough at the back but we are missing what Siva gives the team going forward.

2) Why when we are 1-0 down do we take off our (and the leagues) top scorer? There were quite a few groans from fellow supporters behind the goal (I was in the corner) and to me it makes no sense. When you are chasing the game you need someone like Hope on the pitch to pinch a goal as well as link the play.

3) Was Noel Imber rested or injured today as he appeared to be on the bench and on the pitch at half time? Surely this isnt the time to rest your number 1

Hopefully we can bounce back next game.

OT-I agree being 7pts behind and 6 games to go it does look like the play off's. But we need to still be looking to win all 6 with Leiston still got Needham, Tilbury and Redbridge to play just to mention 3, so there is still an outside chance.

CD-Our fans sighing and moaning??? surely not, I say this in good humour as I was standing next to some fans moaning whilst 3up at Soham. I'm only presuming that Steve's gone for defending first and attack secondary in regards to playing Barber ahead if Jey i.e a defender has to defend first. I like jey but can relate to Steve's ideology. I was'nt at the game today but Liam's come off many times and with only 5 league defeats and in second place the Gaffer's got it right too many times for me to doubt his views. I believe that Noel was and has been carrying an injury and was left out to give whatever injury he had a rest.

Chin's up everyone, my glass is still over half full and looking forward to the next game.

It occurs to me that yesterday was a situation where we needed Danny Ailey. A tall striker good in the air who has the ability to upset tall defenders who are good in the air. But, unfortunately he has left so whilst we have skillful players we also need players who can put themselves about and upset defenders.

Sometimes a change of style is required which we did not get yesterday.

With regard to the support yesterday it was very poor and I have to say that as supporters we got what we deserved on the day! The fans who were there know what I am talking about.

EU.

Against your Leiston "list" we have Harlow, Needham and Grays, not to mention a tricky few against Wabby, Cheshunt, oh and of course Leiston.

Sorry to say, but 2nd is our best bet and based on yesterdays performance that is in doubt.

We were very poor all over the pitch.

I know who we still have to play it does'nt change my views we need to win all 6 to stand an outside chance of being champions, in the meantime we need to secure the more likely finishing spot of 2nd place afterall who honestly thinks we will not?.

As for Steph's comment at the end-can anyone enlighten us in what he meant by the supporters getting the performance they deserved.

Hang on am I missing something here, this was our first defeat in 2012 & only our 5th legue defeat of the season yes?

Can we at least wait to see our performance against Harlow before we decide if this is indeed a blip or something that needs looking at more deeply.

On the player front, there is obviously a valid reason that Noel didn't play as it certainly won't be based on his performances, as far as I'm concerned he is the best keeper we've had since Chopper.

As for Jey I too am confused by his absence, as again I don't think I ve seen a sweeter crosser of a ball for the Town, he has a good engine & has an excellent attitude on the pitch.
