Combined Counties Division 1 – Current promotion update 21-03-12

P W D L F A Pts GD

1. GUERNSEY 31 28 1 2 124 21 82 +103

2. BEDFONT SPORTS 32 25 4 3 82 26 79 +56

The Green Lions fans are absolutely buzzing about this game at the weekend and there could well be a record 2,000 plus gate in attendance. Quite a number of the UK based Guernsey fans are making the effort to get over for the game and there has been a lot of local interest generated.

Undoubtedly the two stand out teams in Division 1, the game promises to be a cracker and a real mouth watering tie for the fans.

Bedfont, on the day, have to win the game to prevent Guernsey being crowned champions.

A win for Bedfont would see them equal on points with Guernsey, having played one game more and having an inferior goal difference. Bedfont, in order to win the League, would then have to get a point/points from their remaining home game against Staines Lammas and Guernsey would have to lose their last two remaining home games against Staines Lammas and Spelthorne Sports.

If Guernsey lose on Saturday, in their remaining two home games, they will have to match whatever points Bedfont get in their last game.

Just a shame that the C.C.L. as such, will be no longer come 13/14.The forward thinking League, that introduced A.F.C Wimbledon and Guernsey to PYRAMID FOOTBALL.Justice is never loyal!!!!!!!

Forgive me Smudgey boy, but that statement is too subtle for me, care to elaborate?

Come the reorganisation of the 14 step 5 Leagues into 12 by the F.A.The C.C.L.as we know it will be defunct.

I think that could be a little over simplistic Smudge. The CCL will most likely continue to exist - the Clubs in it may include some different ones those currently in the League but if you were to compare current Clubs with those in it 10 years go there would be just as many different ones.

I don't believe any Leagues will be "going" Molly - but the FA plan if implemented will mean 2 current Step 5 Leagues get re-designated as Step 6 Leagues. Any Club at Step 5 with the correct ground grading (F) at the time of the re-shuffle will be placed in one of the Step 5 Leagues. It is highly probable that the CCL will be one of those Step 5 Leagues - if the proposals go ahead.

Meanwhile...back at the Lane...

We are hoping for 2000+ crowds in the predicted sunshine tomorrow, and for those that can't make it, BBC Guernsey will be doing an OB from the game from 3.00pm onwards for the build up.

Get In there!!!
