2012 /2013 season

Not really my area, but I would guess Whyteleafe would (on present form) replace Guildford in the Premier. I would also move Windsor up if there is a gap in the Ryman D1 South (or switch Windsor to the Southern League with Chertsey going to the Ryman) and reprieve the team third from bottom from relegation.

For the 1st Division, Bookham are out but it looks like Epsom Athletic, AFC Croydon Athletic and at present Interwood, Alpha Arms and Westwood United could join the Combined Counties (assuming D1 is ramped up to 22 teams).

Depends on lights being installed at clubs going from step 7 to 6.

The only Alpha Arms I know, is the pub 100m up the road from my office!! Used to have many a league title battle with them in my Sunday league days at Old Windsor!

I'd be surprised if they are the AA in question!

Real Sarnie - am only basing that on the current 2nd placed team. If Egham finish second, I would move them up to the Ryman D1 South as well to give it a full compliment of 22 sides (Croydon Athletic's resignation means that the league is currently only 21 strong).

As Newby Marvel rightly says, Interwood are top of the Middlesex County League. Westwood United are top of the Reading Football League (but could join the Hellenic D1 East) and Alpha Arms Academicals play in the East Berkshire League and are currently top.

Maybe Eton Wick could move to the Combined Counties if Westwood go to the Hellenic D1 East, having previously played in the Hellenic D1 East. However, their council's policy on floodlights (not very supportive of them) might see them stay at Step 7.

Wallingford have shown a strong interest in moving back to Step 6, but not too sure if they are too far away to be considered for CC league inclusion?

AK11 - only 1 team can get promoted from Step 5 - normally the Champions but if, like last season, they cannot go up then the 2nd placed team can be put forward. No 2 teams from the same Step 5 League get promoted under the current arrangement. If there are vacancies at Step 4 these are usually taken by teams reprieved from relegation

Ryman 1 South will have a Full Compliment, next year if any of Tooting and Mitcham,Leatherhead,Harrow Borough, along with already demoted Horsham, get relegated.Which looks really likely.Where do Interwood play? Add in Herne Bay,from the Kent League, plus maybe Three Bridges, who could probably finish Second in the Sussex League and get promotion,as current Leaders Rye Utd. have not applied for promotion.

How many of these teams have the ground facilities to join the league though?

Eton Wick's ground has barely changed from when I played youth football there, as well as my first few games in senior football when they used to be in the CCL back in the 90's, so can't see them having the ground grading.

AAA are the team that I was on about as they do have Sat as well as the Sunday sides I used to play against. Not sure where they are based though (always just used to be park pitches in the Slough area), as EBL is usually park based pitches (think Chobham) and may not have a clubhouse as such either.

I saw that as well, Doorknob. I wasn't aware of where Interwood etc. played, only that the leagues they are in are feeders to the Combined Counties.

Rayners Lane to the CCL sounds feasible, would not surprise me.

The Hellenic is losing teams at an alarming rate - Winterbourne United going to the Western, and my local side Tuffley Rovers have applied to join the Western and not the Hellenic for next season.

There is often talk of Ascot coming over as well as Rayners Lane, but I'm not sure how much of this is genuine talk or just someone sitting there with a map and putting two and two together.

As for Whyteleafe, I doubt they will come down. All 6 Step Four bottom clubs would be considered first and Whyteleafe are not bottom, Croydon Athletic are. AFter that it will come down to points coefficient between those other Step 4 clubs and of course, how many clubs want to go up from Step 5. Because our clubs often go up its easy to forget that many other leagues don't.

So based on that, and unless Whitelaw has some knowledge of any step five club transferring over, it looks like two down this season with three up from Step Six and Guildford onwards and upwards.

By the way, in 2004/05 both Champions Ilford and runners up Enfield were promoted from Ryman Two which was a Step five league, but I accept that was a while back now. It does seem odd that a second placed team can go up ahead of one in another league just on the basis that the Champions fail a grading.
