Praise for A Referee

Recommended Posts

On most threads we hear about how bad a ref was and how we all disagree with certain decisions. But for once I would like to congratulate the official. On Friday one of our players was booked for taking his match shirt off and removing his undershirt whilst the action was at the other end of the pitch. The general opinion was that this was a bit harsh.

On Sunday I received a phone call from the match referee who actually took the time to check the official ruling on this and found that he had made a mistake. He then continued to tell me that he had sent a letter to county asking for this to be rescinded.

Not often do you get a ref who admits that he made a mistake after the game in the clubhouse, let alone two days after the match and in his own time.

Congratulations Sir and all the best.

Well said, MVSCR Legend. It is nice to see praise for officials when it's due !

Having said that, and slightly off the CCL radar, but connected through DFC.

I travelled the many miles down to Seaford with the Dorking Ladies today.

WELL -- The pitch, (if you could call it that), would have been better suited to a cheese-rolling competiton.

I didn't inspect both sets of nets, but the ones on the goal end where I was had more rips holes, and tears in it that Rab C Nesbitt's string-vest.

And the referee !! He had to be the long lost twin brother of the late comedian, Benny Hill, and some of his decisions and comments matched his siblings antics !

No wonder the Sussex sides want the step re-structuring to go ahead in 2014 !

I think our Ladies aging male secretary, who very rarely swears, on our arrival commeneted, "God - What a f'king sh1t-hole' !

(Sorry for hi-jacking your thread, MVSCR Legend)

I would also like to give credit to our referee on Saturday, Danith Bandara.

He spoke to the players and explained the decisions when he needed to and defused a potential flashpoint in the second half expertly.

Oh and by the way, we lost. This isn't one of those "we won the ref was brilliant" or we lost it was the ref's fault - sour grapes" posts. I will call it the same way regardless of the result.

Lost again E&E, with all the good players you have, why are E&E under-achieving this season........or are they not ?

I second that E&E Ed. Danith had an excellent game, allowed the game flow, told players when it was a foul or not & when it did get a little heated he was there talking to players politely & calmly which defused the situation........& we won the game, so even better

Oh behave Smudge. What dig ? All I have asked E&E Ed that in my opinion with the players they have on their books, good ones at that, I believe E&E are under-achieveing. Now E&E Ed may disagree thats the question I've asked, if he agrees what does he think is the reason. What the hell is wrong with that ? Its a forum open for discussion and opinions. Yes I have, so why don't you my dear man go on another forum, you know that Sunday Div 9 or whatever, wherever that is.......... Many Thanks NG

So exactly who do we have on our books then, know it all? Go ahead, insult our "under-achieving" individual players by name if you can. You've insulted everyone else here.

If you actually had an allegiance to a club or weren't so much of a coward by hiding behind a forum name I'd have more time for you, and I suspect most people on here agree that you serve no purpose whatsover. Of course that's just their opinions, but if we have to listen to yours, why don't you listen to ours and actually try being positive for a change, or alternatively, just go away.

How sad it must be that the one thing you appear to live for (this web site) is something where you are universally despised. I know of a few people that no longer post on here because you ruin the forums with your presence. Instead of having sensible discussion, you have to weigh in with your pointless opinions on things that don't concern you, or have no place on a public forum. As a result we miss out on interesting comments from many other people who would be valid additions to this site because they are bored with your bullsh*t / inaccuracy / cowardliness / negativity / wild conspiracy theories / existence.

I hope you're happy with yourself. You usually are which is probably just as well.

When you were born I reckon the nurse slapped your mum instead.

WOW ! Universially !....... what the whole universe ? can't be ... you sure? ....now how do you know that ? ...........lol !!!

Whoa slow down there EPIC...........yeah I'm fine with myself thank you very much ! People are bored are they ? If thats the case, then I would like to know when they are not bored, you simply don't like any controversy, so lets have a nicey, nicey, harmonious boring site. Peace and love to everyone posters !

Oh behave, I have no allegiance to any club. As for being a coward whatever, so be it if you think so, but my dear man I'm really not bothered what you think.

Listen E&E I'm always happy with myself but you can't be with your team getting bashed up again last night....I know bad officials...lol !!

All I did is ask you a question, do you think with the players you have E&E are underachieving ? If you don't want to answer then thats fine just say so other than being abusive. Its a perfect ligitimate question asking your opinion being associated with the club.

I'll ask you another question: Isn't it a lovely day today ?........... B) !!!

I am not insulting each individual E&E player/s infact if you read correctly, I said that they are GOOD players so why are E&E under achieving as a team (I didn't mention individuals) simply my opinion and that you should be doing better in the league, the same as Badshot Lea !

I appreciate you're protective of your team, its just my opinion and in my eyes something seems wrong at E&E..

As for the decent players you asked for: M/F: Bedj Bedj (when available and not working), R/B West, L/B Hatfield, L/M: Ayling Strikers: Cottee and Jarman, C/B's Panayi and Sweeper Rodrigues to name a few........ happy now  !

If other posters have stop posting, what 'cos of me, then thats there prerogative, but IF I upset other forumites like I clearly do by asking certain legitimate questions, then I will then gladly depart from this site, and let you BORE the posters with your harmonious EPICS .........lol !!!

Paul West hasn't played for the first team since January because of injury. Bedj Bedj left in October. Rodrigues is at Egham along with other star players Marvell and Borg. Hough went to Horley and Burns returned to Chessington. Cottee is a useful striker, but Ayling, Jarman and Panayi have never played above Step Five, so why should they be considered to be under-achieving? I get the impression that you've just looked at a team line up from a few months back and guessed.

If you really knew your players (as you always tell us you do) you would have mentioned a couple of others in our line up that have a higher pedigree. Clearly you have no idea. Therefore your opinion carries no validity whatsoever. I might as well comment on the defensive frailties of Hereford United, I would be as accurate as you are (not).

However, if I could actually be bothered (I can't) to tell the other players you insulted that you think they are under-achieving. I could imagine their response. "Who the f**k is he?" would probably sum it up. I would respond by saying that the person concerned is a cowardly know-nothing troll who says he's been there and done everything but probably hasn't, because if he was, he'd have stood up to be counted. While you remain anonymous, you are and remain a coward.

I am not protective of my team. They were poor last night. And in no way were the officials at fault, so stop making up stories that aren't there again. I've blamed the officials once this season which is probably five times less than the average poster has.

Oh and by the way, your response was longer than mine. I'm amazed you were able to stay awake while you wrote it.

EPIC I have to admit you're right, I tried to beat your epics and have to say I nearly did go to sleep writing, so heavens knows how you keep awake...... so how do you do it ? got it match sticks..... :D !

I have based my comments on the players I have seen over the last few seasons who I think are good players BUT did I mention the likes of Marvell, Borg, Burns....NO ! So why you mentioning these names who are no longer with E&E ? Are you looking for the sympathy vote and the reasons why E&E are hovering above the relegation zone ;) As for Rodrigues he has only just signed for Egham seeking success no doubt instead of beatings !!!

So whilst you've cleverly avoided the original question by filing insults, you still haven't replied 'Do you think E&E have under achieved this season ?

Yours lovingly Coward......ooops sorry Howard ;) !

OK here's your answer, coward.

You have based your comments on some players you've seen but if you had been watching over "recent seasons" then you would have recognised the other players that I mentioned which left. Are they not good players?

As a result, I do not believe we have under-achieved personally. We were tenth last year. Before the two recent and admittedly poor defeats we were eight points away from ninth position, and this was after our 6 points deduction and with home matches against teams around us to come. Ninth was a realistic target in my opinion until very recently.

So although I'm sure our Manager would have aimed to be top six and I wouldn't expect him to say anything else, as no manager would admit something like that at the start of the season, I personally expected that midtable would be the limit of our achievements this season bearing in mind the loss of players we've had. I therefore believe that we have neither under or over achieved.

As for Alex, he served us for five years hardly ever missing a game and left us affter our 3-0 win against Hanworth Villa. We lost lots of matches during that time. He went to Egham for the money, and I don't blame him as he was a good servant to us.

If you want to have a proper discussion, then stop trying to make two plus two equal five. There isn't always a conspiracy.

Come on as an Editor you should know you've spelt my name wrong........ it's Howard :P !!!

Clap, clap....... now why didn't you say that in the first place instead of throwing insults, a good honest reply. Just interested with your comments as an officer and supporter of the club. Yes, you're right to remember that there isn't always a conspiracy, I never said there was but you think there is !

Again, I thank you for reading my posts properly, |I stated .......''.to name a few ''. Ed you're quick to fire the bullet, cool down and chill out ! You're getting like Smudgeyboy always shooting himself in the foot.............LOL !

Oh by the way, I think E&E have under achieved........... ;) !!!
