Badshot Lea 3 Camberley 2.

Many moons ago, in Jamie Horton's era, our games against Ash were feisty affairs. We had some right good battles against them. In the past couple of seasons though Ash have fallen off the radar to be replaced by Badshot Lea. I'm sure it's not coincidence that our home games against Badshot Lea usually produce one of our highest attendances of the season. You're almost certain of a clash of titanic proportions but all done in the proper way of players hating each other for 90 minutes but being mates in the bar after the game.

In the Leathern Bottle before the game I got speaking to some Godalming fans who are having the time of their life at the moment being in with a shout of the play-offs. When asked why they didn't go to Hythe to watch the team I was told it was because the Godalming coach didn't have a bog on it. This I can fully understand. One fella said he usually goes to watch Badshot Lea when Godalming are away but he atmitted the Baggies aren't usually a good team to watch. He said that today he was going to go home rather than watch the game despite me encouraging him to stay by saying our games with the Baggies are always good, feisty encounters and there'd be at least one red card for one of the teams.

It turns out the fella made the right decision as this was the dullest game between the two sides I've witnessed. Despite the 3-2 scoreline it was poor. Badshot aren't particularly good and we didn't play too well either. I can only remember one yellow card in the game for a Badshot player and it could be argued that it was a bit harsh.

Good day out though, top notch chips which I shall be reviewing for http://nonleaguechips.tumblr.com/ later and no complaints about the scoreline. A win for us, a draw or a win for Badshot would all have been fair as it was a close game.

Always good to have a natter with the Baggie's chairman as well.

Epsom & Ewell 0 Ash Utd 2

finally get back on the winning trail. Played some good football in the first half & scored two quick goals mid way in to the first & unlucky not to have a third with a thunderous shot that smacked against the post. 2nd half was scrappy & heated at times & in the final minutes Epsom put us under some pressure but we held out to claim the points

Yes, agreed Aupostie.

Not enough pressure in the second half unfortunately, but as with many of our recent home matches (Badshot Lea, Sandhurst, Cove, Molesey) the damage was done early and we had too much ground to make up.

Thought you lot looked fairly solid at the back too, and vastly improved on the team you had when we beat you 4-1 in October.

I was at the Windsor v Cove game today and am so angered by the Referee today that I felt the need to come on here and vent…..my first ever post as well! Anyone who knows me knows I am not a ref basher and never hide our own inadequacies as a team behind that of a ref’s decision but this gentleman in the black is and never has been good enough.

Take nothing away from Windsor today they are a very good team with some very talented individuals but we were denied the right to fully test ourselves against them due to the referee issuing one of the worst, pointless and softest sendings off I have ever seen in football.

At the time it was all-square although Windsor were applying pressure and producing openings here and there. It was at this point the referee decided to start to issue the cards. Our centre half with no prior fouls in the game was first cautioned for a nothing foul slightly outside our box – nothing malicious, not dangerous, not high, not intentional just a run of the mill slightly clumsy tackle…the type you see all game long on and often not given. Card produced much to our annoyance as it was so soft. Our CB questioned it as any player would and then got on with his game. The ref was heard to say ‘the next foul you commit I am going to send you off’. Sure enough he did a minute later. A ball coming down from height bouncing around in our box and two players go over. From my viewpoint never ever a penalty, a coming together yet the ref decided to point to the spot. Without hesitation the ref ran over and produced a second yellow…for what…even if it was a foul (which their player later admitted he slipped) a coming together upon which one player ends up unintentionally bundled to the ground does not deserve a 2nd yellow. Cue madness from our players and dugout and a sending off for our manager.

From that point on (35minutes I think) the game stopped being a contest and everyone inside that ground was robbed of a good game of football…the players, the coaching staff and the paying fans. Windsor went on and played some good stuff, scored some good goals and deserve every accolade as they seem a good football bunch and play the game the right way and in the right manner. We pressed on and tried getting the ball on the deck but today was always going to be a challenge even with 11 men.

In regards to the referee I have seen him a number of years, I have never rated him and more so never liked his manner with players. He was a way of winding players up the wrong way. He waved away our protests and remonstrations and doubt he has given it a seconds reflection – which would answer why he has never progressed as a referee despite his fairly young years. If I have a bad game, I get dropped. I have repeated bad games I might find myself out of the squad and dropping down a level with a new club. I guess I must always catch this particular ref on a bad day as he always seems to be around.

Over to you Krooner ;)

I have to admit that from my viewpoint, the foul for the penalty was very soft and no way would I have considered it worthy of a yellow card. In defence of the referee, there was the two footed lunge for the ball by a Cove player where a yellow card was issued. The referee did say afterwards that it was only a yellow as there was no contact with the Windsor player. Had there been, it would have been a straight red. At least the referee did your number 7 a favour. Having been cautioned for dissent after being awarded a free kick, he continued to give the ref the verbals. At least the ref called the stand-in captain over to have a word. In my eyes, sensible refereeing. As for your number 7, I hope that he makes a speedy recovery after colliding with the post.

Highlight of the game was Scotty The Stag being decked by a clearance. Hit him on the head and he went down like he had been shot. Great laughter followed as the Cove physio raced to Scotty's aid. Brilliant stuff!

Sandhurst Town 0 Farnham Town 2

Vital 3 points for Farnham in their struggle to avoid the trapdoor, only secured in the last minute through sub Craig Smith. They took the lead through Cav Ferris in the first half and BBM had a goal chalked off for offside. They also saw an effort hit the bar as they dominated the first half. Fizzers came back into it second half and had a few efforts of their own, as the conditions deteriorated. Sandhurst centre back Jewell was sent off towards the end, i'm not clear why and not sure if it was a second yellow or straight red as I was watching a substitution taking place. The ref we had today always strikes me as a bit eccentric, even down to how he blows his whistle!

Totally agree with Millers above the sending off was very soft even if it was a penalty! There were a few soft cards shown today and yes i thought the referee ruined the game with the sending off! Have to say though that the two centre backs done themselves no favours by giving the ref verbal at regular intervals early on!

Wow Ryan Tippett was drafted into the squad for a debut fantastic player, do you think he will stay in the team for the cc prem next season? I think like Allen he will stand out in that league...

It will definitely be tougher in the cc prem, but there are a few more stronger players that haven't featured in the squad this season which would definitely improve the team for next season!!

Millers I didnt even klnow you could write. Nothing needs to be said. Ask nee tell your players to keep their mouths shut. You clearly know the ref and know what he is capable of so why give him the chance ?
