People are forgetting...

Recommended Posts

...what people fought for and gave their lives for in WW2. I had an argument the other day with my manager about fighting in wars, and I asked him what do you think would have happened if people in 1939 refused to fight. He said 'I'd be speaking German'. This really pissed me off becasue:

1. He's insulting the people who died on his behalf.

2. He's taking the freedoms they protected for him for granted.

3. He's showing total disregard for the suffering of people under the Nazi regime.

4. He's an idiot with, it seems, a total disregard for history and an 'I'm all right jack' attitude to life.

I swear to God, this country needs a re-education in terms of history. <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Our language is actually a type of German anyway, so that wouldn't have been too much of a change.

In fact, in Winstons Churchill, "We'll fight then on the beaches" speach, the only non-German derived word he used was "surrender", which is French!
