Agreed Sweeney was superb!

I thought Simon Sweeney was good, too but sometimes his distribution[passing] was that of a defender not an attacker and so he didn't always find his man. Don't want to be too critical,as he one of my favourite players !

We should all bare in mind that Sweeney isn't match fit yet, he was awesome yesterday and next Saturday his defensive qualities will be needed more than his attacking ones! Going to St Neots with a team that can convert from 3-5-2 to 5-3-2 will help us no end!

I agree with you but yesterday,we missed a player who could offer something different ie trickery, beating a player, which Steve Sinclair gives.Simon Sweeney is a class right back and centre half and cannot be faulted for working hard as a wing back.My only observation was that his final ball didn't always find his man and that he isn't as natural a crosser of the ball,as Danny Murphy is,on the other side.

With Sinclair out of the St Neots game,we need someone who can run past a player with a bit of pace. For me,Jerome Anderson could play that role.It all depends on what tactics Steve Bateman is going to employ. I believe the best form of defence is to take the game to the opposition, not sit back inviting pressure. He may be far more cautious, though.

I would opt for a back three of Sweeney,Brown,NBH and drop Woozley to the bench, now that Murphy is back on the left side.

So my midfield would be Anderson,Coyne,Perkins,Swift,Murphy.

I would have Sonner and Owusu up front because Sean links up play well from attack to midfield thus bringing others into play and offers us defensive qualities in his tackling, which Danny Burnell does not.

Clearly people have forgotten that playing Barton Rovers Tuesday is more important than St Neots at this moment in time.

No,I haven't forgotten,Tom ! As the old saying goes 'it's one game at a time'. I just want to win both but after yesterday's St Neots draw, you can't help but be excited about the St Neots game.

For the Barton game,I think we should give Abbey and Anderson a run out up front, to start with.

2nd half try Anderson out on the right wing. With Burnell,Sonner and Owusu on the bench, you've got plenty of attacking options for that 2nd period.

was thinking the same thing. Barton Rovers better be all that the players are focussing on because not much point beating St Neots if we have lost at Barton. im not even thinking about St Neots till after Tuesdays game. if we can go to St Neots having beaten a bogey team away in Barton Rovers confidence should be sky high

I could understand that team selection in any other game but it is too much of a risk starting Anderson in an unnatural right wing back position where he will be expected to defend a lot in such a huge huge game! And Woozley will play 3spirit, no doubt about it, it is games like next Saturday where his experience will be vital more than anyone else in the squad!

I haven't forgotten about Tuesday v Barton, if I'm honest I'm more worried about us performing well in that game than the St Neots match! We need a win on Tuesday no matter how we get it!

I wouldn't play Jerome as a wing back, even though my line-up appears a 3-5-2. I would have Simon Sweeney operating as a rightback, come right centre half, when needed and play Jerome as a winger.Danny Murphy would play as a wing-back. Nothing says that your system has to be so rigid.

I do think, though, that your selection will be bang on the money,to what Steve Bateman plays,as he is very conservative and regular in his team selection.

Drop Woozley?? I cannot think of a player I'm LESS likely to leave out than Dave Woozley!

Different philosophies,Ian. I know Steve will opt for Brown,NBH and Woozley.Which is a very safe option and at this precise time-understandable.

The reason for my team selection is that Dave Woozley isn't known for his speed or attacking prowess.Danny Murphy is.The team I picked previously,is a attack minded team, which brings pace to the side.Something that was sorely lacking yesterday.

Just another option that could be employed, rather than the same old, same old.

Personally I don't see how you could drop Burgess on his current form. He was MOTM against Chertsey and probably Daventry and played very well yesterday too. I see above that someone thought Swifty had a blinder yesterday. Personally I thought his performance was down on previous games when he's been filling in at left wing back where he was superb. I can't see how you could drop Lloydy at the moment but I would put Sonner in for Burnell who I feel is going through another patch like he did earlier in the season. Taking him out of the team then for a bit worked so maybe could do so again. For Barton I would play;

Warrington

Brown NBH Woozley

Sweeney Burgess Perkins Swift Murphy

Sonner Owusu

and then replace Swift with Coyne at St Neots.

You also have to consider whether Murphy will last 3 games in a week (remember he went off seemingly injured yesterday) so Swift may have to revert to left wing back anyway. Interesting that neither Logie or Herron were about yesterday. Although neither of them would be near my first 11 they could be important if Murphy waa to be injured again especially in the absence of Sincs and Coyne.

Thought Simon and Stuart played really well and it was lovely to see Danny back, really missed him. Alex I think is great and very vocal which I like.

Now lets see if we can do something really different and NOT mention St Neots until after the game tomorrow night OR better still not til Thursday.

Ha ha sorry Rowan my love please dont think I have anything against you posting on here because I dont. I just somtimes think the St Neots V Slough thing can get a bit out of hand. Just because we won at home and you might win at home doesnt mean a thing if we cant beat the other teams as well.

Looking forward to Saturday everyone!

St Neots weren't at the races today, it was a weird game with most of the play in the middle of the park with Leighton rarely threatening but Saints failing to create a great a great deal of chances.

Playing 3 at the back sounds ideal next Saturday :D

I am sure any Saints fan would have no trouble naming a line up but where the players will play is a mystery from game to game.

We played 3 at the back when we beat you 2-0 at Holloways Park ;-)

You sure it wasn't 5 at the back?
