Good result for the Lions! Whose next? Please be at home!

Morning HKP, If your comment isn't tongue in cheek then the answer is that all Guernsey's cup matches are away. It was one of the terms of acceptance to the league.

If it is tongue in cheek please disregard :-)

There seems to be a lot of rumours that the semi-final draw for the league cup has already been made!

A local paper and a local league official (not CCL) have stated that Colliers Wood United will play Guildford City or Badshot Lea.

However, the league have informed us that the draw will be made next Monday night at the league's management committee meeting.

You are wrong on that one Green Lion we have already played Ash United at home in the Premier Cup. So we can get a home draw.

Green Lion,so how come your first tie was at home to Ash.If as you say all your ties are away,it would be Financial Madness to win any game to progress.Costs must be in the region of £3500 per game,at least if you were given a home tie, with say a 1000 fans attending you could recoup say £4500.As for you playing midweek away,Div 1 sides with no lights are accomodated with a Saturday Fixture,so why not Guernsey?

Just to confirm, as Chris has said, that the draw for the semi-finals has not been made. It will take place at the next Management Meeting on Monday 5 March.

As with most senior leagues, the vast majority of league cup matches are played in midweek but if a club without lights is drawn at home, the match will be on a Saturday and will be given preference over a league match if necessary. Occasionally to suit any particular situation, other ties, even where lights are available will be played on a Saturday, but this is less and less usual these days. There is no specific rule though.

Guernsey, along with every other club can be drawn at home or away.

As a side issue, would there be any support for a new rule whereby, if two clubs are drawn together but only the away club has lights, then the tie would be played in midweek at the ground of the away club?

I guess clubs with lights would vote for it and clubs without lights would vote against whitelaw. But then I guess all Step 6 sides have to have lights anyway so it doesnt matter ;)

Maybe,Maybe, the Clubs could vote for Guernsey having Home Saturday Draws, all the time they are in the Competition. Then everyones a Winner, the away side get a Nice FREE trip to Guernsey, whilst Guernsey have a chance of recouping, the money spent by gate receipts.A WIN,WIN,OUTCOME.

What would happen if Guernsey gets a home draw, the matches are usually played mid-week, but I cant see too many UK players wanting to take time off work to travel to Guernsey midweek?

Perhaps that is why Whitelaw made this comment ?
