Enfield Town (0) 2 Osei 60, Hope 68

Waltham Forest (0) 1 Retkoceri (p) 87

Attendance 123

Enfield opened in good spirits and should have taken the lead early on but found Forest keeper Eric Barratt in fine form. He did well to parry a shot from Leon Osei, and Liam Hope also had a shot blocked. Hope then flicked on for Adam Wallace but Ibrahim Conteh blocked his effort. A shot from Dean Pennant suffered the same fate, before a break from Forest saw Luke Stanley fire goalwards only to hit team mate Richard Shittu. Enfield continued to press, and an overhead effort from Pennant went wide before Osei got past the Forest keeper but was unable to convert from the tight angle. A viciously dipping effort from Pennant almost caught out Barratt but backpeddling furiously, he recovered his ground just in time tipping the shot onto the bar. Another full stretch save denied Hope. Then a long throw for Forest found Elton Sackey who nearly picked a way through the Enfield defence but was stopped before he could get a shot off.

The second half started with Hope lobbing Barratt, dropping the ball just wide, and Michael Ewang hitting the post. A Forest corner was parried by Noel Imber before Enfield eventually made the break through. A Rudi Hall corner delivered to the back post and the initial header was blocked only for Leon Osei to drive home from close range. Shittu had a shot blocked but it was a limited response to the goal. A double substitution for Forest just before they defended a corner proved costly as Liam Hope was able to fire home for a second goal. Barratt’s protestations for obstruction went unheeded and as frustration crept into the game Elton Sackey was shown a straight Red card reducing the home sides chances further. Dave Kendall headed a Rudi Hall free kick just past the post but against the odds, Forest made it a nervous finish for Enfield. Jamie Moore scuffed a shot wide and then a penalty was awarded. Enfield’s Noel Imber did his part, saving substitute Joel Palmer’s penalty kick, but his defence were not as quick to react and Arian Retkoceri reached the loose ball first getting a goal back. In truth it was too little too late though as Enfield were able to see out the remaining minutes of the game without incident.

Good to hear that ETFC secured the points yesterday having just got back from Southport Towner's birthplace. Would have tweeted to find out how they got on but have no idea how to do it. :D

Get with it Grandad!! :P

Worrying signs that two players leave ETFC and change their names! I wonder why? :o

Looks like the league will go down to the wire with the game against Leiston being the possible championship decider. But then again, anything can happen.

Sorry for the delay folks... Here are the match highlights... the first goal in on there but my big fat sausage fingers deleted the wrong bit so it's only a short clip... sorry..

Onwards and upwards for AFC Sudbury on Saturday who what I think will be one of our toughest games of the season.
