Thanks newby. question for Epsom Ed then. What do you think of that ? Ref applied common sense in not booking at nil nil but did for a player when his team were leading. Yet the ref (rightly so IMO) gets grief for exactly what you were suggesting he should do.

That's not what I suggested mate. The problem I had was with reference to being done for wasting time when a team is losing, not drawing.

Also, why was the ref applying common sense in not booking for the first kick out? Maybe he was just wrong and should have booked him.

I obviously did not see the circumstances but if the ball was kicked away at nil-nil then as far as I was aware there is no reason why the player shouldn't get booked.

Assuming that the two kickouts were both deliberate and not really close to the whistle being blown then they should have a card each. Simples!

Youa re far too smart for your own good and came back with the answer I expected. So I am going to ask Newby one. If it were 1-0 to you when the Westfield player kicked the ball away would you have had a problem with him not catuioning the Westfield player but still cautioning your player when he did it later ?

The laws are an ass,in a Refs eyes he can do what he likes, depending on his mood.Give him stick you are more likely to get booked,Managers set the tone by some of their remarks to Officials, and hearing Ref,Ref,Ref, every 2 minutes,is a gauranteed reason why we see so many bookings.

My view of the game, albeit limited in the first half, was one where both teams tried to play football in an honest manner. Not a bad challenge all game long but plenty of effort and commitment. We have had this referee before and he is one of the poorest we have had. We must have had him at least 3 times and in those games he has managed to upset and infuriate everyone. At least he is consistent.

Why it took so long for the referee to deal with the penalty incident is beyond me. After speaking to the Asst on the main stand side, he took an absolute age to actually do anything. Frustrations from both sides could so easily have boiled over especially as there were 10 or so players around the "D" who seemed to be having quite an interesting debate.

Defensively, this is as well as we hahve played for a very long time. I thought we looked extremely solid at the back and never stretched at any time. If I missed something I am sure that this will be picked up.

So what was yours and Rother's feeling about the sending off, justified or not?

Have to agree that I thought your defence was excellent on Saturday.

Well, didn't see it so can't offer much to be honest.

Lino was very insistent still waving his flag 10 secs after the incident so I can only assume he saw it as violent conduct.

My instinct was that it was harsh.

Croydon impressed me with how they played, especially coping with 10 men.

To be totally honest, I was at least 100 yards away up by the turnstiles. I heard the shout for a pen and clearly saw the referee wave play on. What followed next was a lot of noise from the other end of the ground and I saw the asst flagging. That was it! Talking to Mal after the game, he said it was a very soft red card and he was much closer to the incident than I was. Apparently, the noise was to attract the referee's attention to the assistant's flag waving - which was almost of Swiss proportions!

My view was it was never a red card!! A penalty yes but the red card was harsh to say the least!! I too was impressed with Croydon they kept battling and i thought their 4 was exellent! Won everything in the air!!

Purple Tram I was right behind the linesman and I thought a red card was harsh. I also thought it was harsh for a penalty but as the ball was in play when the Croydon player lifted and pushed back down Ben it was a foul and thus a penalty. If the ball had gone out of play and the Croydon did the same with the ball out of play I suspect nothing would have happened and the Croydon player would have just got a ticking off. Overall right decision for the penalty sending off was harsh. Fair play to Croydon they made it very difficult for Windsor throughout.

I was the Assistant Ref (main stand side), on Saturday at Windsor v Croydon . I signalled to the referee, and told him what I had seen and that as the ball was still in play it was a penalty. As the incident happened in 44th minute, didn't really appreciate being surrounded by several Croydon players and a couple of Croydon coaches at half time, but that seems to be happening alot more now. Also one Croydon coach wanted to come into our changing room at half time, so I had to wait outside, until he'd seen sense and gone to his own team's changing room. The Croydon match day Secretary came into our changing room after the match and correctly and politely asked about the sending off. He agreed with the penalty but not the sending off. I explained the situation, he felt it was harsh, but we parted on good terms

Went to the SP v Epsom game last night as ive got a couple of mates who were playing and there was only 1 main talking point; the referee. What an absolute disgrace and I dont think for one second anyone who was there would disagree. I even looked at the assessor (pointed out by a couple of the players) and on 3 occasions he was what looked like, shaking his head at decisions the ref was making. He booked the SP captain, from what sounded like him saying "can I talk to you please ref" as well as showing cards left right and centre for nothing tackles. It looked at times as though the two sets of players were laughing with each other about what the ref was doing! Im so glad I dont play and wasnt last night as it was honestly, the worst display of refereeing ive ever seen. There have been refs ive seen have bad games, but that would be from making wrong decisions but not throughout the entire game; I dont think this bloke made one correct decision (apart from maybe SP's penalty, which was missed). I honestly, felt sorry for not only the guys I knew playing in the game, but every other player and every watching that farce last night. Think it was something like 12 yellows and 1 red he ended up dishing out, but there wasnt really 1 bad tackle in the whole game.

All in all, you should all be very much aware of this guy refereeing any of your games in future (dont know his name, foreign guy). As a non player, im more than happy to post this opinion on the game whether its liked, disliked, criticised or not, but the man lost the plot. Final straw for me was one player saying "you shouldnt be reffing in the league" which he shouldnt have said, to which the ref replied "you lot shouldnt be playing in this league." Clearly, the respect campaign is dead.

On a positive note, despite being at least 3 yards offside (I was in line), what a strike from the Epsom number 9 for their first goal, possible the best goal ive seen all season, think it was Cottee.

In line when he received the ball?
