Brazil's Regional Service for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents is looking into the reasons why a rescue helicopter disintegrated shortly after landing in the northern state of Para on February 23.

 

Amateur footage taken by the Para Fire Department showed how the aircraft came apart while vibrating on the ground.

 

Officials believe the helicopter experienced ground resonance, which happens when the rotor is working while the helicopter is on a level surface.

Don't think 'level/unlevel-ground' would have had anything to do with it.

 

More likely, one of the rotor blades moved slightly out of line causing instability.

 

The pilot was lucky not to have been decapitated !.
