Ashford reserve team reached the clubs first final of the season beating Hanworth Villa on penalties.

In a strange game that could have ended 10-10, the tangerines raced into a 3-0 lead after ten minutes and it looked like it would be a walk over. Some dogged play from a very vocal Villa slowly got them back into the game. Both teams spurned further chances and finally Villas first goal being a gift from the referee after he deemed man of the match Tyler Tobin had picked up a back pass. The so called back pass being a sliced clearance that went 30 feet into the air before the young keeper ran to collect it. Villa slammed in the free kick from 10 yards. The score was 3-1 at half time and Ashford missed at least 5 gilt edged, Golden, unmissable, nailed on (i could go on) chances to finish the game off but failed to do so. Villa then scored in the last minute of added time to take it into the extra half hour. No further goals and it was up to Tyler, who pulled off two penalty saves and one blazed over with Ashford players staying cool and scoring all 3 of ours.

 

Well done to Gary, Darren and the lads for making it to the final against our tennants Staines Lammas.
